WBTV Writers' Workshop 2018

Application Period: May 1-31

It's that time of year again when hungry and talented writers get a chance to start and/or further their career in the world of television, courtesy of the Warner Bros. Television Writers' Workshop. Applications are being accepted from May 1-31, so don't delay!

For over 40 years, this has been the leading writing program for television and in 2018 the Workshop will accept up to eight applicants out of what promises to be more than 2,500 submissions. The selected writers will hear from top television talent, including directors, agents, showrunners and actors, and will also be broken into smaller groups for a Simulated Writers' Room in which the participants will need to complete a spec script under the same strict deadlines of a show in production. How participants perform will determine whether they are supported in getting a staff position on a Warner Bros. television production when the workshop is completed in April of 2019.

And in case you have your doubts on just how effective this amazing program is, last year's participants now have staff writing positions on such shows as Fox's Lethal Weapon and Gotham, NBC's Blindspot and Trial & Error, and ABC's Deception

Interested writers (and who wouldn't be!) have a bit of work to do though. To apply, you will need to send: (1) a current resume, (2) a personal statement expressing why you want to be a television writer and how your background will bring a unique perspective to such a career, (3) a signed submission agreement, and (4) a spec script for one of the approved shows for 2018.

Time to get started as submissions are being accepted starting next Tuesday (May 1) and the submission deadline is May 31. Good Luck!
