"11.22.63" Arrives in February
What promises to be a riveting Hulu original miniseries, 11.22.63 looks to be arriving next President’s Day (February 15). Based on Stephen King’s page-turning epic thriller of the same name (well, the book was titled as 11/22/63 vs. 11.22.63 for the TV production), we are getting a lot of new details about the cast and even these photos from King, himself, on his Facebook page!
The announcement of the release date of this impending nine-hour miniseries comes as we approach this Sunday’s 52nd Anniversary of JFK’s tragic assassination in Dallas. Co-produced by Warner Bros. Television and J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot Productions, King’s story of 11.22.63 follows high school teacher Jake Epping (James Franco) who travels back in time to stop President Kennedy’s assassination.
The formidable cast includes not only Franco in the starring role, but also Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, Sarah Gadon, Lucy Fry, George MacKay and Daniel Webber. Director Kevin Macdonald helmed the first two episodes.
Hulu will reportedly be releasing each 11.22.63 episode on a weekly basis, which it has done for its other original programming, rather than releasing all episodes at once.
Related Titles
In the meantime, here are three other Kennedy-related movies from the Warner Bros. Film and Television Library that might be of interest this time of year.
JFK
Oliver Stone’s controversial and provocative 1992 film, JFK, remains an epic motion picture tailored towards the conspiracy crowd.
Executive Action
This 1973 precursor to Stone’s film is a much smaller and slower moving look at the conspiracy theories surrounding JFK’s death. Starring Burt Lancaster and Will Greer as titans of industry who engineer the assassination for economic gain, this early look at conspiracy from Hollywood.
Fatal Deception: Mrs. Lee Harvey Oswald
And from 1993, this TV movie starring Helena Bonham Carter in her Golden Globe nominated performance as Marina Oswald, the estranged wife of alleged Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. At the time of the assassination, Marina was a 22-year-old mother of two and recent Russian immigrant who could barely speak English. A fascinating look at what happened to her when she was thrust into an unwanted media spotlight due to circumstances beyond her control, courtesy of the Warner Archive Collection.
