WB Award Winners & Nominees

With the launch of a new year, the award season is kicking into gear. Here's the ongoing batch of awards and/or nominations that have so far been bestowed upon our Warner Bros. titles and creative talent for their work in 2014. Congrats to all! National Board of Review Honorees

The National Board of Review has announced the recipients of its 2014 film awards and the following Warner Bros. films and talent won these prestigious awards: Clint Eastwood was named "Best Director" for American Sniper, while Inherent Vice writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson grabbed the "Best Adapted Screenplay" Award for his adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel of the same name, and The LEGO Movie writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller won for "Best Original Screenplay."

In addition, all three films were also named to the National Board of Review's List of Top Films for 2014. 

Inherent Vice opened in limited release on December 12 (with wide release on January 9) and American Sniper opens in limited release on Christmas Day (with wide release on January 16). The LEGO Movie, released this past February, grossed more than $250 million in worldwide box office, and a sequel is slated for release in the summer of 2017.

The National Board of Review's 2014 Awards Presentation Gala will be held Tuesday, January 6 in New York City.

Golden Globe Nominations

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced nominations for the 72^nd Annual Golden Globe® Awards and the following Warner Bros. Television and Warner Bros. Pictures titles and talent were nominated: The LEGO Movie (Best Animated Feature Film), The Judge (Robert Duvall, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role), Inherent Vice (Joaquin Phoenix, Best Performance by an Actor--Comedy or Musical).

On the television side, shows getting the coveted Golden Globe nomination were Shameless (William H. Macy, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series--Comedy or Musical) and Mom (Allison Janney, Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television).

The Golden Globes will air live on NBC on Sunday, January 11 at 5pm (PST).

Critics’ Choice Movie Awards

The Broadcast Film Critics Association recently announced the nominees for its 20th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. And leading the way for Warner Bros. with four nominations each were Inherent Vice (including Josh Brolin for “Best Supporting Actor” and writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson for “Best Adapted Screenplay”) and Edge of Tomorrow.

Screen legend Robert Duvall was nominated as “Best Supporting Actor” for The Judge. Bradley Cooper received a nomination for “Best Actor in an Action Movie” for his role of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in American Sniper, and right by his side was Tom Cruise who garnered a nomination in the same category for Edge of Tomorrow. Cruise’s Edge co-star Emily Blunt also received a nod for “Best Actress in an Action Movie.” Edge of Tomorrow also was nominated for “Best Action Movie.”

The LEGO Movie is up for “Best Animated Movie” and “Best Song” for “Everything is Awesome,” and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies got two nominations for “Best Hair and Makeup” and “Best Visual Effects.”

The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards will be broadcast live on A&E on Thursday, January 15 at 6pm (PST).

Casting Socity of America Nominations

The Casting Society of America has announced the feature film nominees for its 30^th Artios Awards, recognizing excellence in casting. The Artios Awards will be presented January 22. Please note that the Artios were moved from the fall into the January awards season, so this year’s awards include nominees from 2013 and 2014. The following Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema films were nominated: This is Where I Leave You (Feature Film-Big Budget Comedy, Cindy Tolan, Adam Caldwell) and We’re the Millers (Feature Film-Big Budget Comedy, Lisa Beach, Sarah Katzman, Lisa Mae Fincannon, Jeremy Gordon, Beth Lipari, Dana Salerno).

These nominations join the Studio’s previous nominations in television and online series: Mom (Television Pilot-Comedy, Nikki Valko, Ken Miller, Peter Pappas), Aim High (Web Series, Matthew Lessall) and Mortal Kombat: Legacy (Web Series, Matthew Lessall).

Producers Guild of America Nominations

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced its nominees in the Documentary Motion Pictures, Television Series/Specials and Digital Series categories and the following Warner Bros. Television and Warner Horizon Television shows and talent were nominated: The Big Bang Theory (The Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Comedy--Producers Faye Oshima Belyeu, Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, Bill Prady), The Voice (The Award for Outstanding Producer of Competition Television--Producers Stijn Bakkers, Mark Burnett, John de Mol, Chad Hines, Lee Metzger, Audrey Morrissey, Jim Roush, Kyra Thompson, Mike Yurchuk, Amanda Zucker).

The PGA has also announced its nominees in the Theatrical Motion Picture and Animated Theatrical Motion Picture categories and the following Warner Bros. Pictures titles were nominated: American Sniper (The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures--Producers Bradley Cooper, Clint Eastwood, Andrew Lazar, Robert Lorenz, p.g.a., Peter Morgan, p.g.a), The LEGO Movie (The Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures--Producer Dan Lin).

The 2015 Producer Guild Awards takes place Saturday, January 24 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees

Nominees for the 21^st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2014 for film and television were announced this morning and the following Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema titles and talent were nominated: The Big Bang Theory received two nods (Jim Parsons, Outstanding Peformance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series--Mayim Bialik, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Jim Parsons, Melissa Rauch) and Shameless (William H. Macy, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series) got on the board as well.

And our SAG nominees for the big screen are The Judge (Robert Duvall, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role) and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture), which each received a nomination. 

The Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 5pm (PST) from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.

ACE Eddie Award Nominees

The American Cinema Editors have announced nominations for their 65th Annual ACE Eddie Awards, which recognize the year’s outstanding editing in 10 film, TV and documentary categories. Here are the Warner Bros. nominees for the Eddie Awards, which will be presented January 30: American Sniper (Best Edited Feature Film-Dramatic), Inherent Vice (Best Edited Feature Film-Comedy or Musical) and The LEGO Movie (Best Animated Feature Film).

Five WB Titles Nominated for Annie Awards

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood today announced nominations for its 42^nd Annual Annie Awards™ and the following Warner Bros. properties were nominated: The LEGO Movie led the way with six nominations, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug snagged two, while the criticially-acclaimed Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow, new TV series Mike Tyson Mysteries and videogame LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham each snared one.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday, January 31 at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Art Directors Guild Nominations

The Art Directors Guild has announced the nominees for its 19th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, which will be presented January 31. As previously announced, Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception) will receive the Guild’s Cinematic Imagery Award. Nominees for Excellence in Production Design for a Feature Film are: American Sniper (Contemporary Film, production designers James Murakami, Charisse Cardenas), Inherent Vice (Period Film, production designer David Crank) and Interstellar (Fantasy Film, production designer Nathan Crowley).

Nominees for Excellence in Production Design in Television are: Gotham (One-Hour Period or Fantasy Single-Camera Television Series, production designer Doug Kraner), Mike & Molly (Multi-Camera Television Series, production designer John Shaffner), The Big Bang Theory (Multi-Camera Television Series, production designer John Shaffner), Undateable (Multi-Camera Television Series, production designer Cabot McMullen) and The Voice (Variety, Competition, Reality or Game Show Series, production designers James Pearse Connelly, Anton Goss).

DICE Award Nominations

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has announced the nominees for its 2015 DICE (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Awards, which is the videogame industry's peer-based awards show; its equivalent to the movie industry's Oscars. The awards will be presented February 5 and streamed live via Twitch. The following Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Games were nominated, with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor leading the way with nine nominations:

NAACP Image Award Nominations

Nominations for the 46^th NAACP Image Awards were announced and the following Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Television  and Warner Bros. Pictures titles were nominated: The Voice (Outstanding Reality Series), Gotham (Jada Pinkett Smith, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series), The LEGO Movie (Morgan Freeman, Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance).

The 46^th NAACP Image Awards will be presented on Friday, February 6 at a ceremony at The Pasadena Civic Auditorium that will air live on TV One at 9/8c.

 

Directors Guild of America Nominations

The Directors Guild of America announced the feature film nominees for its 67^th Annual DGA Awards. The DGA Awards, recognizing excellence in direction, will be presented February 7. The following Warner Bros. Pictures film was nominated: American Sniper (Director: Clint Eastwood).

BAFTA Award Nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the nominees for its BAFTA Film Awards, which will be presented in London on February 8. The following Warner Bros. Pictures films have been nominated: The LEGO Movie (Animated Film), American Sniper (Adapted Screenplay and Sound), Interstellar (Cinematography, Production Design, Original Music and Special Visual Effects), and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (Special Visual Effects).

 

WaterTower Music Scores Grammy Nominations

WaterTower Music, the in-house record label for Warner Bros. score and soundtrack releases, garnered four Grammy nominations this year: Gravity (Steven Price, Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media), The LEGO Movie (“Everything is Awesome” performed by Tegan and Sara featuring The Lonely Island, Best Song for Visual Media), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (“I See Fire” performed by Ed Sheeran, Best Song for Visual Media) and Her (“The Moon Song” performed by Scarlett Johansson and Joaquin Phoenix, Best Song for Visual Media).

The 57th Grammy Awards take place Sunday, February 8 at 8/7c on CBS.

 

Writers Guild of America Nominations

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) announced nominations for outstanding achievement in feature film writing during 2014. The following Warner Bros. Pictures film was nominated: American Sniper (Adapted Screenplay, written by Jason Hall; based on the book by Chris Kyle with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice). This nomination joins the Studio’s two television nominated announced previously: The Leftovers (Long-Form Adapted, teleplay by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta; based on the book by Tom Perrotta) and Deliverance Creek (Long-Form Original, written by Melissa Carter). Winners will be honored at the 2015 Writers Guild Awards on Saturday, February 14 at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City.

 

CAS Award Nominations

The Cinema Audio Society has announced its CAS Awards nominees for outstanding achievement in sound mixing for film and television. Winners will be announced February 14. The following Warner Bros. Pictures films were nominated: American Sniper (Motion Picture-Live Action), Interstellar (Motion Picture-Live Action) and The LEGO Movie (Motion Picture-Animated).

 

Costume Designer Guild Nominations

The Costume Designers Guild announced nominees for its 17th Costume Designers Guild Awards, which celebrate excellence in film, television and commercial costume design. The CDG Awards will be presented February 17. The following Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema titles were among the nominees: Inherent Vice (Excellence in Period Film, Mark Bridges), Interstellar (Excellence in Contemporary Film, Mary Zophres) and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (Excellence in Fantasy Film, Bob Buck, Lesley Burkes-Harding, Ann Maskrey).
