Warner Premiere To Produce Direct-To-Consumer Titles Based On Best-Selling Young Adult Book Series “The Clique”

(June 26, 2007 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Premiere will produce a series of direct-to-consumer releases based on the best-selling young adult book series “The Clique,” it was announced today by Diane Nelson, President, Warner Premiere. Warner Premiere has acquired worldwide rights to the immensely successful collection by author Lisi Harrison and will partner with the series’ developers and producers, Alloy Entertainment, a division of Alloy Media + Marketing, to expand “The Clique” novels to DVD releases targeted at the ‘tween’ girl audience. Warner Premiere will also work with Alloy Media + Marketing in creating and executing multi-faceted, transmedia campaigns across Alloy’s established network of media properties reaching young girls to fully exploit all marketing and promotional opportunities available for the releases. “‘The Clique’ books are a great property with a very loyal and very active fanbase,” said Nelson. “The content and style of these books makes them perfect as the basis for a series of DVD releases, and working with our partners at Alloy, we’ll be able to translate these fun and exciting characters into what the established fans of ‘The Clique’ have been asking for since book one; as well as help continue to introduce the series in both book and DVD format to a worldwide ‘tween girl’ audience.” “We’re looking forward to bringing ‘The Clique’ to life beyond the printed page with our partners at Warner Premiere,” said Les Morgenstein, President, Alloy Entertainment. “The promotional support we’re able to offer across Alloy’s varied media properties will ensure additional engaging opportunities for fans to get to know the stories and the characters they love.” The first DVD title being produced, “The Clique,” based on the 2004 book of the same name which launched the book series, is expected to be released in 2008. Les Morgenstein and Bob Levy from Alloy Entertainment will serve as producers on the project. Warner Premiere and Alloy Entertainment have recently identified writer Liz Tigelaar to begin work on the DVD series scripts. An up-close look at the contemporary life of the privileged teenager, “The Clique” explores the highs and lows of junior high school life, told by way of an elite group of socially precocious twelve-year-old girls from the wealthy suburbs north of New York City. The series has sold more than four million copies domestically and has spent nearly 100 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
