Warner Home Video To Sell VHS To All Rental Retailers Direct
(March 24, 2000 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Home Video (WHV) today announced that it will implement a new plan to service rental retailers directly commencing with September releases. The new plan will enable WHV to sell or lease rental titles directly to retailers, providing consistent service and improve customer satisfaction. No changes are anticipated in the distribution of WHV’s sell-through VHS and DVD products.
“This innovative move will benefit retailers in many ways, enhancing their ability to face the challenges of today’s marketplace,” said Warren Lieberfarb, President of Warner Home Video. “Retailers will have the ability to better serve their customers through direct access to WHV’s copy depth programs, consumer advertising and promotional initiatives.”
“Making this change will provide more focus on WHV’s titles as well as reduce costs of doing business,” added Jim Cardwell, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Warner Home Video.
Warner Home Video will contract with a third party to provide services to support this new direct plan.
