(January 26, 2010 – Burbank, CA) – This spring consumers can get set for more animated high jinks from their favorite cartoon rivals, Tom and Jerry when Warner Home Video (WHV) releases “Tom and Jerry Tales: The Complete First Season,” April 13, 2010. This action-packed release includes all 13 episodes (39 total cartoons) from the first season of “Tom and Jerry Tales,” the animated series that features contemporary adventures of the beloved cat and mouse team. Titled, “Tom and Jerry Tales: The Complete First Season,” this release will retail for $19.98 SRP. Order due date has been set for March 9, 2010.
“Tom and Jerry Tales: The Complete First Season” features 39 animated escapades with the favorite cat and mouse duo, whose shenanigans bring about the most hilarious and entertaining of adventures. Tom and Jerry go fishing in the Arctic and search for treasure in the deep sea. They are chased by mummies, dragons and a friendly octopus named Morizzio. The two engage in magic duels in a wizard’s lab, chase themselves into a haunted house and zap one another into a digital world. Jerry joins a musical band and Tom propels himself into skies when he dons a jetpack. These and many other exciting adventures are featured on the DVD.
Each cartoon features the familiar fur-flying, fun-packing chases, schemes and pranks that delight kids and their parents time and again. Joining Tom and Jerry are some of their favorite pals, including Tuffy the mouse, Spike the dog, Butch the cat, Jerry’s singing uncle Pecos and Droopy.
“‘Tom and Jerry’ continues to be a big hit with kids today because the essence of the show remains the same,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner Brands Marketing. He added, “The stories and settings surrounding the characters are more contemporary, but the formula never changes, which is what draws viewers to the series. Whether one is a fan of the classic ‘Tom and Jerry’ theatrical shorts or their newer, contemporary TV cartoons, ‘Tom and Jerry Tales: The Complete First Season’ is sure to please and delight animation lovers of all ages.”
“Tom and Jerry Tales” originally aired on Kids’ WB, 2006-2008. This is the first contemporary “Tom and Jerry” series to have aired on television in over 13 years.
