Warner Home Video Releases “Quack-Up” Looney Tunes Comedy Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters On DVD August 4, 2009

(April 27, 2009 – Burbank, CA) – Daffy Duck gets top billing in Warner Home Video’s (WHV) feature-length release, “Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters,” the next installment from the Looney Tunes Movie Collection library, which will be released on DVD August 4, 2009. This delightful film, which is comprised of a collection of classic Looney Tunes shorts, is the final Looney Tunes project that legendary voice actor Mel Blanc lent his voice to. Titled “Looney Tunes Movie Collection: Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters,” this single-disc release will retail for $14.98 SRP. Order due date has been set for June 30, 2009. Originally released in 1988, “Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters” follows Daffy Duck as he inherits a large estate but is haunted by his benefactor when he misbehaves. The story begins when a reclusive and ailing billionaire named J.P. Cubish offers his fortune to anyone who is able to make him laugh. Daffy Duck takes on the challenge and succeeds but the old man laughs so hard he dies. Daffy inherits his fortune under the condition that he uses the money in service to the community. Greedy Daffy scoffs at the thought of using the inheritance on anyone other than himself. The ghostly spirit of the old man however, returns to haunt him and he begins to eliminate Daffy’s money until Daffy agrees to uphold the terms. Daffy uses the money to start a “Ghostbusters” style business in hopes of wiping out ghosts such as Cubish’s. Establishing himself as “Paranormalist at Large,” he persuades Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny and Sylvester to help. The ghost-busting team is called to investigate a series of paranormal disturbances across the city. Daffy’s money however, continues to vanish. Will he relent before the rest of his inheritance disappears like a ghost? Classic cartoons featured on “Looney Tunes Movie Collection: Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters” include “Night of the Living Duck,” “Daffy Dilly,” “The Prize Pest,” “Water,” “Water Every Hare,” “Hide and go Tweet,” “Claws for Alarm,” “The Duxorcist,” “Transylvania 6-5000,” “The Abominable Snow Rabbit,” “Punch Trunk” and “Jumpin’ Jupiter.” “‘Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters’ is unique because it’s a film that’s constructed out of several un-related segments, mainly some of Looney Tunes’ most striking, vintage cartoon shorts, some spanning over 60 years, and combines them with fresh, new material to create an entirely new film,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Sports Marketing. In this short, Daffy Duck reprises his famous role as Duck Dodgers along with Porky Pig as his assistant space cadet -- the two discover Marvin the Martian’s ploy to destroy the Earth. Released in 1996, “Superior Duck,” is the short that features almost all Looney Tunes characters. In “Little Go Beep,” which was released in 2000, baby Wile E. Coyote is told by his father that he’s not to speak until he catches a roadrunner. “Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters” was the last Looney Tunes project for which gifted voice actor Mel Blanc, provided his voice. Blanc, who earned the nickname, “the Man of a Thousand Voices,” is best known as the voice behind such iconic characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and several others.
