Warner Home Video Releases “New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV Champions” On DVD And Blu-Ray™ March 9th
(February 19, 2010 – Burbank, CA) – In the end, no team could lay claim and stop the New Orleans Saints from capturing their first-ever Vince Lombardi trophy in the franchise’s 43-year history. The 2009 NFL season was a dream year for the Saints and the city of New Orleans and now Warner Home Video (WHV) and NFL Films are teaming up to bring ‘Who Dat Nation’ a DVD commemorating their historic run to championship glory with the release of “Super Bowl XLIV Champions: New Orleans Saints” on March 9, 2010. Available in Standard Definition (SD) for $24.98 SRP and on Blu-ray™ (BD) for $34.99 SRP, the “Super Bowl XLIV Champions: New Orleans Saints” DVD will be a keepsake for Saints fans to treasure for years to come.
The date February 7, 2010 will forever be remembered as the day the city of New Orleans officially came back to life in the national spotlight. The 2009 New Orleans Saints team helped re-energize and re-vitalize a city that five years earlier was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. Led by their daring coach Sean Payton, the Saints marched their way to a 13-3 regular season record and the #1 seed in the NFC heading into the playoffs. Led by a swarming defense and high-octane offense the Saints blew through Kurt Warner and the defending NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals 45-14 in the Divisional Playoffs. Next up the Saints would battle the ageless wonder Brett Favre and the upstart Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship Game. The game would teeter back-and-forth until the final minute when cornerback Tracy Porter picked off Favre to send the game into sudden-death overtime. From there, the Saints kicked the winning field goal to clinch their first-ever NFC title and a trip to Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida.
Super Bowl XLIV would feature a showdown with NFL MVP Peyton Manning and the mighty Indianapolis Colts. Down 10-6 at the half, Coach Payton knew he needed to call a play to jump-start his team and swing the momentum to the New Orleans side of the field. The Saints did just that when they surprised the Colts with an on-side kick to start the half, and then Super Bowl XLIV MVP Drew Brees led the offense down the field to score the go-ahead touchdown. The Colts would keep it close until late in the fourth quarter but another key interception by Porter would propel the Saints to their first-ever World Championship.
“It was a magical year for the Saints and the city of New Orleans. Warner Home Video is proud to showcase the story of their remarkable season on DVD and Blu-ray,” said Don Polite, Executive Director, Partner Brands Marketing for WHV. “‘Who Dat Nation’ will get an in-depth look at every integral player, critical play and defining moment of the Saints historic season on a commemorative DVD that includes exclusive footage and sounds for fans to relive over and over.”
