Warner Home Video Announces Five New Releases Under The Warner Power Lease July Program
(May 8, 2000 – Burbank, CA) - Warner Home Video will premiere five new titles under the Warner Power Lease July Program for July 2000. They include the simultaneous DVD and VHS releases of the $60 million box-office hit comedy “The Whole Nine Yards,” multi-Academy Award® nominee “Magnolia” from New Line Home Video, “Boiler Room” (NLHV) and “The Big Tease” (WHV) and the VHS release of “The Virginian” from TNT.
Pre-book dates (VHS & DVD) are as follows: “Boiler Room” (6/20 & 6/13), "The Whole Nine Yards” and “The Big Tease” (6/27 & 6/20), “Magnolia” (7/5 & 6/27) and “The Virginian” (VHS only, 6/20).
Under the new Warner Power Lease July Program, retailers can increase their copy depth and profit margins even further by buying all five titles at goal, based on historical purchases. Retailers will then be eligible to 1) purchase bonus units from 100% to 400% of goal at a greatly reduced cost and 2) receive a $6.00 rebate for each bonus unit returned. All “The Whole Nine Yards” bonus units must be returned; only bonus units above 100% for “Magnolia,” “Boiler Room,” and “The Big Tease” need be returned. There is no return requirement for “The Virginian.”
Signed agreements must be received by June 27 to participate in the Warner Power Lease July Program. Retailers must return discounted units in accordance with prior copy depth programs. In addition to the Warner Power Lease July Program, retailers have the choice of participating in the Warner Lease Program, New Line’s Double Up Program, revenue sharing or standard terms.
The Warner Power Lease July Program will also be heightened by a summer consumer promotional offer. When customers rent two of nine VHS or DVD titles from the Warner Power Lease June & July Programs, they can receive a free “The Perfect Storm” theatrical poster by mail (plus $2.00 shipping & handling). “The Perfect Storm” starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg opens in theaters June 30.
