Warner Home Video And Lifetime Entertainment Services Enter Exclusive Home Entertainment Distribution Agreement For Original Movies

(April 19, 2004 – Burbank, CA and New York, NY) – Warner Home Video (WHV) and Lifetime Entertainment Services have entered into an exclusive home entertainment distribution agreement. The announcement was jointly made today by Christine Martinez, WHV’s Vice President Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing, and Todd Unger, Lifetime’s Senior Vice President of Brand Extensions. Under terms of the multi-year agreement, which marks Lifetime’s first ever home entertainment distribution agreement for Lifetime Original Movies, WHV will be the exclusive distributor in the U.S. for all Lifetime branded television properties, including Lifetime Original Movies and select specials, series and longform titles developed or acquired by Lifetime. The branded line of Lifetime home video product will launch with Lifetime Original Movies titles, such as the Emmy-nominated movie “Homeless to Harvard,” an inspiring drama based on the life of Liz Murray, a young woman raised in poverty by loving, yet drug-addicted parents, who rose above it all and ultimately attended Harvard University, and “Obsessed,” the gripping psychological drama of a gifted and intelligent medical writer jailed for an alleged obsession with a married doctor who denies an affair ever happened. Home video release dates for the Lifetime Original Movies will be announced on an ongoing basis. Regarding the announcement, Martinez noted, “Lifetime is one of the most powerful brands in all of media. The network’s channels and its programming are synonymous with excellence, as are the many titles housed under the Lifetime Original Movies banner, which uniquely complements WHV’s non-theatrical distribution strategy.” She added, “It is an honor to be associated with Lifetime and its programming. There’s a reason why this network has been a resounding success for two decades and we are delighted to have the opportunity to distribute the compelling Lifetime programming to its incredibly loyal audience through DVD and home video.” “Underscoring strong consumer interest for Lifetime product,” Unger notes, “video and DVD versions of our Lifetime Original Movies are the single most requested item from our viewers. We look forward to a productive partnership with Warner Home Video, a class by themselves in the industry, whose strong distribution, marketing and executive team will make the launch of Lifetime Original Movies on DVDs a great success.” The Lifetime programming further strengthens WHV’s rapidly growing library of non-theatrical titles. The company has been strategically expanding the introduction of new franchises into the home entertainment arena, including programming from the BBC, NBA, NHL, NFL, National Geographic and Leap Frog, among others. Moreover, WHV distributes several complete television series such as, to name a few, “Friends,” “The West Wing,” “ER,” “Nip/Tuck,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Gilligan’s Island,” “The Flintstones” and "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?.” LIFETIME is the leader in women's television and one of the top-rated basic cable television networks.
