Warner Bros. Online To Launch looneytunes.com Including All New Looney Tunes Serialized Programming

(May 1, 2001 – Burbank, CA) - On Tuesday, May 1, Warner Bros. Online will launch www.looneytunes.com, the definitive Internet destination for all things Looney Tunes, including new original animated programming, the first of which is a 10-part serial, “Toon Marooned,” starring the Looney Tunes characters duking it out “Survivor”-style for a $100 purse while stranded on a jungle peninsula. “Toon Marooned” and all future original programming on www.looneytunes.com will be created and produced by M.T.T. Enterprises in association with Warner Bros. Animation. “The Looney Tunes are among Warner Bros.’ most treasured characters and this site is the perfect showcase for them,” said Kevin Tsujihara, Executive Vice President, New Media, Warner Bros. “It’s an experience that can be enjoyed by both the legions of longtime Tunes fans and a whole new generation of Internet fans that may be meeting these characters for the first time. This site is also a great place for us to experiment with and incubate new programming ideas in a research and development atmosphere that’s cost and time efficient.” “While the Looney Tunes have never been inactive, this is really the first time in almost four decades that they’ve been brought together in an ongoing, serialized format,” said Sander Schwartz, President, Warner Bros. Animation. “Looneytunes.com is a great venue for our classic characters, bringing fans an interactive experience that just isn’t available in the traditional media.” Designed as a totally immersive entertainment destination, www.looneytunes.com (also available via www.warnerbros.com) is geared to appeal to fans of all ages with a home page hosted by Bugs Bunny, propped comfortably in his rabbit hole with carrot in hand. A signpost with placards that swoop, swing, droop and honk serves as a navigational bar leading site visitors to the following areas: All New Tunes -- The home of all-new animated Looney Tunes programming, in both single- and multi-part formats. These Tunes feature top voice talent, including Joe Alaskey, Billy West, Bob Bergen, Jim Cummings, Greg Burson, Maurice LaMarche and June Foray (the voice of Granny for more than four decades). The first project to be unveiled in All New Tunes is the 10-episode serial “Toon Marooned,” a “Survivor” parody, featuring nine Looney Tunes characters scheming their way toward a $100 dollar prize while stranded on a jungle peninsula. New segments of “Toon Marooned” are scheduled to be rolled out every two weeks and each features interactive elements, allowing fans to help their favorite characters move closer to the prize money. Looney Library for Kids -- Designed to entertain kids while engaging them in such activities as “read-along” books with original interactive stories, Joke of the Day, Looney Tunes Activity Sheets and Learn to Draw Your Favorite Tune, featuring multi-skill level, step-by-step instructions for amateur animators. Stars of the Show -- For both diehard fans and the newly initiated, “Stars of the Show” features biographical and historical information on the famed Looney Tunes characters, as well trivia, video and audio clips and interviews with the characters’ creators, animators and voice talent. At launch, this area will feature Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner. Future stars will be rolled out on a regular basis. Games, Games, Games -- Featuring Flash-animated games starring the Looney Tunes characters, including some based on classic animated shorts, such as the “Friar Duck Quarterstaff Challenge.” Message Boards -- Site visitors can share comments, feedback and tips on mastering the game section. To promote the May 1 launch of www.looneytunes.com, Warner Bros. Online is holding an online sweepstakes. In keeping with the “Toon Marooned” theme, entrants vie for a trip for eight to the U.S. Virgin Islands--the good news being that no one gets voted off the island! Contest rules and entry information will be available on the site. About Warner Bros. Online Warner Bros.
