Warner Bros. Online And AmericanGreetings.com Join Forces To Create Multi-Tiered Marketing Program
(February 28, 2001 - Burbank, CA and Cleveland, OH) - Warner Bros. Online (WBOL), one of the Web’s most-trafficked entertainment studio sites, and AmericanGreetings.com (AOL Keyword: AG), the Internet’s top-ranked online greetings site, have formed a multi-tiered marketing and licensing program, which was unveiled today by Kevin Tsujihara, Executive Vice President, New Media, Warner Bros. and Josef Mandelbaum, Chief Executive Officer, AmericanGreetings.com.
This multi-year, multi-tiered digital licensing arrangement represents the most extensive deal of its type for WBOL and will benefit both companies on many levels, while providing consumers a unique electronic greetings opportunity and WBOL advertisers unprecedented demographic targeting.
The program’s first phase, “wbwebcards,” exclusive online greetings featuring selected Warner Bros. characters, (available at www.warnerbros.com), launches today, with WBOL utilizing AmericanGreetings.com’s state-of-the-art delivery system for online greetings. AmericanGreetings.com will, in turn, license select Warner Bros. brands for use on AmericanGreetings.com and the AOL Greetings site, which they also manage.
Using AmericanGreetings.com’s advanced technologies, WBOL’s advertisers will be better able to target their efforts, with the ability to select their audience by category and/or demographic, with no wasted impressions. This cross-promotion affords advertisers access across WBOL’s network of more than 150 sites with upward of 4.5 million unique monthly visitors.
Additionally, AmericanGreetings.com’s eAgents newsletter technology will allow advertisers to deliver messages directly to registered visitors of Warner Bros.’ highly popular online entertainment properties. Newsletter, licensing and marketing elements of the program will be launched over the next 60 days.
“Warner Bros.’ world-class entertainment brands and AmericanGreetings.com’s superlative online technologies are a natural match,” said Tsujihara. “To have AmericanGreetings.com as our partner showcases the value of our digital properties--and with wbwebcards and the newsletter component, we’ll be able to add yet another dimension to the palette of digital marketing tools that Warner Bros. Online already offers its clients.”
“This agreement showcases the numerous ways we create value by harnessing the power of entertainment for personal expression, including pinpoint targeting, contextual advertising and viral marketing, as well as daily personalized content delivery and other direct response products,” said Mandelbaum. “Adding unique content from Warner Bros. and drawing on our successful relationship with AOL and its huge online reach creates a powerhouse triangle for AmericanGreetings.com and our other partners.”
