Warner Bros. International Television Distribution Announces New Programming Volume Deal With TNT Broadcasting Network In Russia

(April 7, 2010 – Burbank, CA and Moscow) – Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD) has signed a new, multiyear programming volume deal which will provide TNT Broadcasting Network in Russia with access to theatrical motion pictures and hit TV shows from Warner Bros. Entertainment. The announcement was made today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television, and Roman Petrenko, TNT Broadcasting Network. The multiyear pact with WBITD will give TNT Broadcasting Network the Russian free TV rights to new theatrical motion pictures from the Studio, including “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” among others; new television series from the 2009–10 season in the United States, including “V” and “The Vampire Diaries,” as well as programs from the upcoming 2010–11 season; previously released theatrical motion pictures and hit TV shows from the Warner Bros. Entertainment collection; and animated programs for the launch of new Warner Bros.–branded animation block. “We are pleased to begin this new relationship with TNT Broadcasting Network to deliver our world-class films, television series and animated titles to viewers throughout Russia in primetime,” said Schlesinger. “TNT’s younger-skewing audience profile is a great fit for our TV shows and movies, and we look forward to a long and successful association.” “We are very happy to start the cooperation with WBITD. New feature films available for exhibition by TNT Broadcasting Network include: • The most recent installment of the worldwide blockbuster “Harry Potter” franchise, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” • Hit comedy “The Hangover,” from director Todd Phillips and starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor and Justin Bartha • “Sherlock Holmes,” starring Robert Downey Jr. (nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance), Jude Law and Rachel McAdams, and directed by Guy Ritchie • And more… New television series licensed by TNT Broadcasting Network as part of the deal are: • “V”: A contemporary reimagining of the hit alien invasion miniseries, “V” was the highest-rated scripted new series premiere of the 2009–10 U.S. TV season among Adults 18–49. The show stars Elizabeth Mitchell (“Lost”), Morris Chestnut (“Boyz n the Hood”), Joel Gretsch (“The 4400”), Lourdes Benedicto (“NYPD Blue”), Logan Huffman (“America”), Laura Vandervoort (“Smallville”), with Morena Baccarin (“Firefly”) and Scott Wolf (“Party of Five”).
