Warner Bros. International Television Distribution And Germany’s RTL Sign Free Television Deal
(June 25, 2002 - Burbank, CA) - Warner Bros. International Television Distribution has signed a multi-year deal with Germany’s RTL for the free television rights to a package of feature films, television series and TV movies. The announcement was made today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television, and Gerhard Zeiler, CEO, RTL.
The deal, which was negotiated on behalf of Warner Bros. International Television Distribution by Sylvia Rothblum, Managing Director, German-Speaking Territories and Simon Kenny, Senior Vice President, Europe, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, includes the broadcast rights to several films from the company’s 1996 - 2001 theatrical slates (including “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “The Lord Of The Rings,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” “The Perfect Storm,” “Wild, Wild West” and “Rush Hour 2”), as well as numerous library titles. In addition, the deal includes television series (including “Gilmore Girls,” “Smallville” and “Witchblade”) and TV movies.
