Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution Launches The “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince London Premiere Sweepstakes” On Six NBC Stations
(April 27, 2009 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) is teaming up with six NBC owned-and-operated stations on a sweepstakes promotion for the Telepictures Productions series “The Bonnie Hunt Show,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Extra” to give viewers a chance to win a trip to the world premiere of Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly anticipated “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth picture in the blockbuster film franchise, opening in theaters July 15.
The announcement was made today by Susan Kantor, Executive Vice President, Marketing, WBDTD, who spearheaded creation of the promotion in a cross-divisional collaboration across the company.
“We’re tremendously excited to be working with the NBC stations on this Harry Potter sweepstakes promotion, which will drive tune-in to three of our key series during the important May sweeps while giving the stations the chance to participate directly in the excitement surrounding the release of the long-anticipated latest installment of this incredibly popular film franchise,” said Kantor. “The turnkey promotion is designed to provide the affiliated stations with an efficient way to manage limited on-air inventory, drive tune-in for three shows in one promotional execution, and increase audience flow across the multiple programs as viewers remain with the station for more chances to win.”
The “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince London Premiere Sweepstakes” will run for two weeks during the May sweeps in six key markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Miami – where the NBC station broadcasts the following three WBDTD/Telepictures programs: “The Bonnie Hunt Show,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Extra.” The two-week local market sweepstakes are preceded by a week of pre-promotion in the market, with stations running on-air spots and promoting the sweepstakes on their local web sites. The sweepstakes period runs May 11–22 on WNBC-TV in New York and WMAQ-TV in Chicago; April 27–May 8 on KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, KNTV-TV in San Francisco and KXAS-TV in Dallas; and May 4–15 on WTVJ-TV in Miami.
In order to enter the sweepstakes, viewers of “Bonnie,” “Ellen” and “Extra” on the NBC stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Miami should tune in every weekday and watch for the daily magic word in each program. Then, log onto the local NBC station’s web site, search: “Harry Potter,” and enter for a chance to win.
Every correct entry puts viewers in the running for the grand prize and daily prizes. Each day, a consumer has three total chances to win (one entry per person, per day, per show) by watching for the magic word in each of the three WBDTD/Telepictures programs.
The grand prize winner will win a trip for two to London, including airfare and hotel accommodations for four nights plus two tickets to the world premiere of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” to be held on Tuesday, July 7.
In addition to vying for the grand prize, viewers entering the sweepstakes also have a chance to win a variety of Harry Potter–themed daily prizes, which include:
• “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” on Blu-ray
• “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince™: The Videogame”
