(December 4, 2003 – Burbank, CA and London) - The celebrity love of the canine, the media’s love of the celebrity and the public’s love of Scooby-DooTM has inspired a collection of Scooby-Doo designer dog products from couture designer, Eric Way, that are bursting with character. This new line of merchandise includes Scooby-Doo Swarovski Crystal dog coats, leads and bowls, as well as other unique dog accessories designed to get every dog's tail wagging and generate a little 'puparazzi' attention at your dog’s next outing - even if its not for walkies down the red-carpet!
The products promise to delight and dazzle not just dog lovers and their pups, but those with an eye for fashion, when they are officially launched at the world’s most famous department store, Harrods, during a sparkling celebrity studded Dog Fashion Show on the 04th of December 2003. The range includes a £12,000 diamond and platinum Scooby-Doo dog tag, as well as £999 Scooby-Doo crystal dog coat and the launch is to be the highlight of the canine glamour calendar.
The universal appeal and awareness of Scooby-Doo, the gang and their adventures, as well as the commitment shown to this property by Warner Bros. Entertainment will ensure the longevity of Scooby-Doo as a brand. Scooby-Doo merchandise is hugely popular and Warner Bros. Consumer Products is always looking for innovative and entertaining ways in which merchandise can be developed. Scooby-Doo’s own unique style has been captured with subtlety and class in the range of luxury Scooby-Doo pet accessories available exclusively at Harrods.
Katie Black, General Manager, Warner Bros. Consumer Products (UK) says; ‘Fashion and entertainment make a wonderful partnership and we are delighted to have worked with Eric Way to launch a collection of Scooby-Doo inspired pet accessories, specifically for Harrods. It’s no mystery why Scooby is setting the trends in dog fashion – he’s loved by kids and canines of all ages.’
Eric Way, who The Sunday Times voted as one of London’s up-and-coming designers to watch, famous for designing the Million Dollar denim jacket, the pink forties-inspired dress worn by Charlotte in this series of "Sex in the City" and perhaps most appropriately Harry Halliwell’s exclusive dog coats said; ‘There is enormous consumer interest in dog products and it does not surprise me to discover that more than sixty per cent of people buy their dogs Christmas presents … I certainly do! The Scooby-Doo range is a luxury line of products which are glamorous and high-fashion and will ensure that any pooch feels special, loved and involved with the festivities around the holidays!’
The products make use of impeccable tailoring and Eric’s attention to detail can be seen in the soft silk lining and great buttons and other features to ensure easy dressing and undressing for even the most boisterous canine.
Eric continues: ‘My clients have often asked me to create little ‘outfits’ for their pooches and now with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Scooby-Doo, I have been able to create a range of contemporary and fun products for dogs. Couture dog dressing is becoming more and more in vogue and Scooby-Doo is the ultimate canine character!’
