Warner Bros. Consumer Products Showcases Unrivaled Entertainment Portfolio At Licensing International Expo 2009

(June 1, 2009 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Consumer Products [WBCP] arrives at this year’s Licensing Show with a diverse lineup of entertainment properties to drive its licensing, merchandising and retail business. Anchored by the world’s top-grossing entertainment franchise in history, Harry Potter, WBCP will also showcase timeless favorites such as Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Baby Looney Tunes, Tweety, Tom and Jerry and Hanna-Barbera properties, along with characters from the world of DC Comics. WBCP’s licensing slate also includes two films debuting in 2010, “Jonah Hex” and “Guardians of Ga’Hoole.” “Jonah Hex,” a supernatural actioner that tells the tale of a former Confederate soldier-turned-hardened bounty hunter who seeks vengeance in the Old West, debuts in theaters in summer 2010. Slated for release fall 2010, “Guardians of Ga’Hoole” is a CG animated action-adventure that follows the young owl Soren and his friends on a heroic journey to seek out a mythical band of owls, the legendary Guardians of Ga’Hoole, and join with them in battle to defeat rogue forces bent on taking over the entire owl kingdom. Television licensing is programmed into WBCP’s diverse slate, led by today’s hits and yesterday’s classics such as “Gossip Girl,” “Supernatural,” “Seinfeld” and “Friends.” In addition, perennial classic films will be presented at this year’s show, including “Gone with the Wind,” “Caddyshack,” “The Goonies,” “Gremlins,” “Friday the 13th” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” in company with holiday favorites like “The Polar Express,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “A Christmas Story.” WBCP will also celebrate the 70th anniversary of one of the most beloved and iconic motion pictures of all time, “The Wizard of Oz.” The expanded master licensee agreement for the popular character Pucca will also be highlighted at this year’s show, as well as WBCP’s portfolio of world-class football/soccer franchise properties. “The diversity of our portfolio is unmatched in breadth and scope, offering licensees and retailers opportunities across the licensing spectrum,” said Brad Globe, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “At the forefront of our business and leading the global competition is the highly anticipated sixth film of the Harry Potter series, along with a traveling exhibition and next year’s grand opening of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ at Universal Studios Orlando. The final three Harry Potter films will continue to create momentum as we transition the biggest entertainment franchise in history to an evergreen brand.” “Our DC Super Heroes will again make their mark in 2009, led by the popular animated series ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold,’” Globe added. HARRY POTTER CONTINUES TO REIGN AS A GLOBAL PHENOMENON As Harry Potter gears up for a momentous 2009, WBCP will showcase the franchise’s latest magical offerings, including the growing global themed entertainment category. “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” offers fans a first-hand look inside the famous wizard’s magical world with elaborate displays of authentic costumes, props and artifacts from popular environments featured in the films such as those from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Created in partnership with ExhibitGroup/Giltspur, the exhibition will be displayed in major cultural and entertainment venues, museums and institutions in the U.S. and, eventually, internationally. The exhibit made its world premiere in Chicago this past April. Through WBCP’s partnership with Universal Orlando Resort, the world’s most highly anticipated theme park environment, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” will be revealed in 2010. Billed as “a theme park within a theme park,” fans will be able to fully immerse themselves into an entire land that is directly inspired by J.K. Rowling’s compelling stories and characters, where experiences from Harry Potter’s world will become their own. Guests will be able to walk through the village of Hogsmeade, and will marvel at the immensity of Hogwarts castle, which will tower above them. They will experience shops, restaurants and attractions pulled straight from the books and films – including some of the most sophisticated theme park experiences ever created. While fans around the world anxiously await the July 15, 2009, premiere of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” WBCP licensees across the globe, including Panini, DeAgostini, NECA, Corgi International Limited, Mattel, Hasbro, Rubie’s Costume Co., Exhibitgroup/Giltspur, Noble Collection, Artbox Entertainment, Gentle Giant, Giant Merchandising, Jibbitz, BioWorld Merchandising Inc., Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Tonner Doll, among others, will be supporting the film’s release with an array of products. BATMAN AND DC COMICS SUPER HEROES SOAR The Caped Crusader teams up with Super Heroes across the DC Universe in “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” a new animated television series that has dominated the ratings since its debut and will be a prime fixture at this year’s Licensing Show. Airing on Cartoon Network, the action-packed series’ licensing program is anchored by DC Comics’ master toy licensee, Mattel, and features other categories such as fashion separates (Isaac Morris and Wear Me Apparel), accessories (Berkshire), back-to-school supplies (Fast Forward), T-shirts (Giant, Trevco and Bioworld) and sleepwear sets (AME and Saramax). WBCP, on behalf of DC Comics, recently announced a partnership with renowned global fashion designer Marc Ecko to introduce co-branded, limited-edition collections inspired by one of the most complex and intriguing characters in history, Batman, along with select members from his classic Rogues Gallery. Using fashion-forward graphics inspired by the dark edginess of the Dark Knight, the new line is based on an array of some of the most vibrant—and villainous—characters in the DC Universe, including The Joker, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and others. The product lines, including hoodies, tees, woven shirts, headwear and watches, will appeal to a diverse youth culture that is influenced by indie music, art, martial arts and skating. WBCP is also supporting the upcoming live-action theatrical release “Jonah Hex,” which gallops from the Wild West pages of DC Comics to the silver screen in summer 2010. Directed by Jimmy Hayward and starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Megan Fox, “Jonah Hex” will be supported by WBCP with a limited-edition range of exclusive collectibles, apparel and more. LOONEY TUNES CHARACTERS ARE “BETTER-FOR-YOU” The Looney Tunes characters continue to promote the successful Eating Right Kids, a better-for-you line of food products, uniting flavor and nutrition, available at Safeway stores around the country. The product line, which is the first to broadly feature entertainment characters and be dedicated solely to a better eating philosophy, features world-renowned Looney Tunes characters — Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Taz, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Roadrunner, Marvin the Martian and Daffy Duck — on more than 60 items across 18 categories. In the international marketplace, the Looney Tunes have quickly evolved into one of the world’s most dynamic licensed properties, and WBCP Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) is helping to lead the charge with the global initiative Looney Tunes Active!, featuring the iconic characters as ambassadors of fitness for children. More than 200 licensees across EMEA are taking part in the ever expanding enterprise, and a number of prominent partnerships have been formed to support Looney Tunes Active!, from a limited-edition, co-branded kids apparel and footwear collection with adidas to mineral water with Nestlé brand Aquarel. Additionally, a variety of complementary global and country specific initiatives are underway including a European “Bugs Bunny on Ice” show, a German Sportparty tour and an all-new “Looney Tunes Active!” television series in France that launched last fall. WBCP UK, Spain, Italy and France have all partnered with their local Basketball Federations using “Looney Tunes Active!” to encourage children to become more involved in basketball and sports in general. Australia is also getting into the act with Frontera’s CalciYum flavored milk brand’s Kids Can Do Big Things, a program that features a touring interactive gym area, known as the Go Zone, which enables kids to shoot hoops with Daffy Duck, chase after Road Runner on static exercise bikes and out-bounce Bugs Bunny on the mini tramps. The program is supported by Australia’s number one men’s and women’s basketball players. “THE WIZARD OF OZ” CELEBRATES ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY WBCP continues its sweeping celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the iconic film, “The Wizard of Oz,” with the worldwide tour of The Ruby Slipper Collection, a re-interpretation of Dorothy’s iconic Ruby Slippers for modern times. Fashion masterminds such as Betsey Johnson, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Manolo Blahnik, Oscar de la Renta, and Stuart Weitzman were granted creative license and access to unlimited CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements to re-imagine their own modern vision of the sparkling Ruby Slippers. Fueling interest in 2009 is a groundswell of activity for “actionistas,” led by the third annual Supergirl Jam, the industry’s only large-scale, all-girls action sports competition and lifestyle/music festival. This unique event features more than 100 of the top female athletes in surfing, skateboarding, inline skating and snowboarding in a competition designed to promote and celebrate female strength, independence and empowerment.
