Warner Bros. Consumer Products Properties Extend Magic At Toy Fair 2002
(February 6, 2002 – Burbank, CA) – Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, The Powerpuff Girls, Looney Tunes and DC Comics get top billing from Warner Bros. Consumer Products licensees at Toy Fair 2002. Supported by theatrical features and worldwide recognition, the company’s hottest properties will be highlighted by some of the most-high profile licensees from around the world.

The largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere, Toy Fair showcases nearly 2,000 manufacturers, distributors, importers and sales agents from 30 countries. The convention is held Sunday - Thursday, February 10-14, 2002 in New York City at showroom locations in the Toy District and at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Warner Bros. Consumer Products licensees will showcase products based on key properties including Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, The Powerpuff Girls, Looney Tunes and DC Comics.

With four books in the series thus far, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books have been sold in over 115 countries and translated into more than 42 languages. More than 124 million copies have been sold worldwide. This worldwide phenomenon continues with the blockbuster film adaptation of the first magical book,
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which made box-office history and secured the top spot as the No. 1 film of 2001. The adventures of Harry and his friends continue in 2002 as the world anticipates the release of the blockbuster movie, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” by Warner Home Video on DVD and VHS, the anticipated release of the fifth book in the series and the release of the second film, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” this November.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products licensees worldwide will be showcasing new 2002 products including:
• Mattel, Inc. casts a spell on toys as the master toy licensee for Harry Potter. Based on the key moments from the second book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” kids will have fun testing their skills with the Whomping Willow™ Game, and creating edible treats with the Snake Bites Edible Activity Set and the Polyjuice Potion™ Maker.
• LEGO Systems will build on the success of 2001. Upcoming products include Flying Lesson, Troll on the Loose, Slytherin, Gringott’s Bank and Quidditch Practice playsets.
• Bachmann Industries unveils Hogwarts Express accompanied by a 1:43 die-cast replica of the Weasley’s flying car.
• Rubies Costumes will showcase new Harry Potter costumes and accessories.
• Wizards of the Coast announces new Chocolate Frog Cards, Diagon Alley Boosters, Adventures at Hogwarts Boosters and Chamber of Secrets.
Scooby-Doo
Everyone’s favorite mystery-solving Great Dane is coming to life in the first-ever,
live-action film based on “Scooby-Doo.” Due in theaters June 14, 2002, the film stars Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Rowan Atkinson as Mondavarious, the mysterious owner of Spooky Island. The movie is produced by Charles Roven and is directed by Raja Gosnell. Warner Bros. Consumer Products is launching a comprehensive licensing and merchandising program to fully support the film and core property for 2002, which will include such key licensees as:
• Equity Marketing will be showcasing a broad array of unique plush, figural and vehicle products including the “Reaction Scooby-Doo” feature plush,
the “Mad Scientist” action figure playset and the “Haunted House” mini vehicle playset.
• Rubies Costumes displays a deluxe Scooby-Doo plush costume.
• Playing Mantis introduces a 1:64 die cast Mystery Machine and model kit.
• Hasbro brings home a Scooby-Doo Lite Brite refill and Scooby-Doo Easy Bake kit.

The Powerpuff GirlsThe world’s first female kindergarten superheroes, The Powerpuff Girls, will pack a punch in summer 2002, when they take on the silver screen in their very first theatrically-released animated feature film, produced by Cartoon Network Studios and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film’s release, as well as the core property, will be supported by a comprehensive marketing campaign including major promotional partners and events, as well as a complete licensing and merchandising program from Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Continuing to build on the enormous popularity of these animated superheroes, master toy licensee Trendmasters is debuting a whole new line of fabulous Powerpuff Girls toy products for 2002. The new line will feature Powerpuff Girls characters in a variety of fun character assortments and girl-favorite themes including new Powerpuff Girl playsets, plush and fun, funky fashion accessories such as wearable dolls with a small pouch and wearable dolls and accessories with a backpack carrying case. Additional licensees and products include:

DC Comics’ Super Heroes
Superman
The Man of Steel is a true American icon and the standard against which all other super heroes have been measured. With nearly 100% global awareness, Superman is the only licensed property with decades of continuous major media exposure. Today, the WB Network’s smash hit, “Smallville” weaves a blend of realism and science fiction adventure into a live-action Superman TV series. Newcomer Tom Welling plays the young Clark Kent, facing familiar characters from the Superman mythos including Lana Lang and Lex Luthor.
DC Direct will be producing an exclusive line of action figures inspired by
The WB’s smash hit show “Smallville.” DC Direct, the company’s exclusive collectible product business, will introduce three figures based on the likenesses of Clark Kent (Welling), Lana Lang (Kristen Kreuk) and Lex Luthor
(Michael Rosenbaum), as they appear on “Smallville.” The toys, due in late 2002, are sure to attract a large consumer base as the show has redefined an American icon - Superman - for a whole new generation of fans. Inkworks is producing Smallville trading cards and is going to make a presence at Toy Fair and Rubies Costumes will be showcasing their new 2002 Superman line-up at this year’s show.
Batman
Gotham City’s premiere crime fighter and one of the world’s most popular super heroes, is a proven, classic brand that enjoys universal awareness across all age groups. With licensees in all major categories, Batman is one of the most successful merchandising brands of all time. Hasbro and Rubies Costumes will be showcasing their new 2002 line-up at this year’s Toy Fair.
Justice League
Cartoon Network has enlisted the world’s greatest superheroes, bringing them together once more in an all-new half-hour animated series, “Justice League.” Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the series incorporates an all-star roster of popular DC Comics superheroes including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter. Airing four times a week, “Justice League” re-introduces today's kids to the most famous superhero team of all time. Toy licensees creating a line-up of product to support Justice League in 2002 include Rubies Costumes, USAopoly and Spectra Star.
