Warner Bros. Consumer Products And Cartoon Network Latin America Announce Cartoon Cartoons Corners In Riachuelo Stores
(October 9, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Consumer Products Latin America and Riachuelo have entered into a licensed retail agreement to develop Cartoon Network “CARTOON CARTOONS” “corners” inside the retailer’s 70 department stores in Brazil. The new retail shops will feature licensed and exclusive products showcasing Cartoon Network’s popular original series stars, “The Powerpuff Girls,” “Cow and Chicken,” “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Johnny Bravo,” and “Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy.”

Cartoon Network” Cartoon Cartoons” “corners” are Cartoon Network “shops” within the children’s sections of the Riachuelo stores. Beginning in October, product lines for kids and teens including apparel, such as beach and sports wear; accessories like shoes, backpacks and hats; and bed and bath products will be available exclusively inside Riachuelo stores. Riachuelo will carry licensed merchandise and will have the ability to design and develop exclusive products as well. All of the items will feature the much-loved, popular characters from five of the Original Cartoon Network series called “Cartoon Cartoons.”

The “corners” were developed so that all the visual communication would be bright and colorful, following the look of the Cartoon Network brand. The sizes of the areas vary with model spaces of 20 to 50 square feet. Themed fixtures and banners distinguish each shop and the television towers airing non-stop cartoons in the larger shops are designed to entertain and delight consumers.

In celebration of the “corners” launch and Children’s Day, Riachuelo stores throughout Brazil will host a special gift with purchase promotion. From September 30 through October 12, anyone who spends R$ 30,00 on any item from the children’s department will receive an exclusive coloring book and crayons with the Cartoon Network characters.
The launch of the Cartoon Cartoons corners will be announced through an advertising campaign that will include 30 and 60 second commercials transmitted on Cartoon Network, Rede Globo, SBT and Rede Record; banners on the CartoonNetwork.com.br Web site; ads inserted in the country’s major newspapers; and a direct mail campaign to Riachuelo’s 5 million credit card holders.
