Warner Bros. Begins Global Online Expansion With Country-Specific Web Sites - Launching The First, www.warnerbros.co.uk, February 16

(February 15, 2001 - Burbank, CA and London) - Warner Bros. is expanding its global online presence via country-specific Web sites, the first of which, www.warnerbros.co.uk, launches February 16, in the UK, it was announced today by Kevin Tsujihara, Executive Vice President, New Media, Warner Bros. The company is creating local-language, country-specific sites to showcase its vast array of globally recognized entertainment properties, original online programming and relevant local content. Content for these sites will be drawn from across all of Warner Bros.’ divisions, not only in the US, but also from around the world. “These international Web sites are a great way to build and reinforce the Warner brand globally,” said Tsujihara. “By presenting these sites in the local language and offering localized content, we’re maximizing the effectiveness of our promotional efforts. And, by customizing content from the world’s largest entertainment company, we’re extending the Web users’ relationship with our product and programming.” Warner Bros.’ international new media businesses, including its Web sites, are overseen by Jodi Nesis Benaim, Vice President, Warner Bros. New Media, who is based in London. The UK site will be followed in the second quarter of 2001 by the launch of a German site, with sites in France, Italy and Spain expected to follow later in the year. www.warnerbros.co.uk will feature areas highlighting films (official UK film sites, news, trailers, and premiere Webcasts), original programming (building on Warner Bros.’ existing brands, including “Superman,” “Marvin the Martian,” and MAD magazine, as well as short films), DVD/video (film content, product information, links to buy), television (sites created specifically for the UK, which include original content for “Friends,” “ER,” “The West Wing,” “Third Watch” and “The Sopranos”), kids (entertainment and activities based on the company’s classic and contemporary titles) and shopping. “Our intent is to make this site the pre-eminent entertainment site in the UK,” said Benaim. “With Warner Bros.’ vast array of popular content, including “Harry Potter,” “The Matrix,” “Friends,” “ER” and the Looney Tunes, as well as its access to the creative community, this site is sure to captivate and entertain all Internet users.” Warner Bros. New Media oversees the migration and convergence of traditional media with new media, and is the driving force behind Warner Bros.’ activities in the entire new media space, including the Internet, interactive television and wireless.
