Vampires & Witches Rule Thursday Nights On The WB When “Angel” Joins “Charmed” In January And February
(December 19, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – The WB will add a vampire to its witchy Thursday line-up by airing encore episodes of its hit drama “ANGEL” leading into “CHARMED.” Original episodes of “ANGEL” will continue to air Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Repeat episodes from last season will air Thursdays (8:00 p.m. ET) beginning January 10 and continuing through February.
The first episodes to air on Thursdays will be the four-episode arc that concluded the series’ second season, when Angel (David Boreanaz) and his crew traveled to the demon dimension of Pylea, where Angel was able to venture out into the daylight. In these four episodes, Angel is forced again to deal with his inner beast, enriching the mythology of the acclaimed series and providing further insight into the character.
“'ANGEL’ is having its strongest season yet and has come into its own a stand-alone series this season,” said Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment of The WB. “We are looking forward to giving it the additional exposure, and believe these episodes will help new viewers that came aboard this season learn more about the show’s rich mythology. We also believe that ‘CHARMED,’ which has been one of the network’s most popular shows since its debut, will benefit from having the most compatible lead-in we have ever been able to give it.”
Along with its lead-in “7TH HEAVEN” and first-year hit “SMALLVILLE,” “ANGEL” places among The WB’s top-three-rated series across the male demographics, ranking #2 season-to-date among men 12-34 and men 18-49 and #3 in men 18-34 and male teens. “ANGEL” is the network’s fifth-highest-rated series this season among adults 18-34, adults 18-49, persons 12-34 and women 18-49 and is averaging a formidable 4.6 million viewers a week.
“ANGEL” is a Mutant Enemy Inc., David Greenwalt Productions and Kuzui/Sandollar production in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television and stars David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards and Amy Acker. # # #
