Television Icon Barbara Eden Makes Her First Sitcom Appearance In Twenty Years And Pop Group Hanson Perform On “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch”
(December 3, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – Barbara Eden returns to primetime series television, joined by pop superstar group Hanson on The WB’s “SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH” on Friday, January 11, 2002 (8:00-8:30 p.m. ET). In the episode entitled “A Birthday Witch,” Hanson fans will have the first chance to hear the band’s new song “Strong Enough to Break,” which is scheduled for release in 2002.
Eden’s appearance on “SABRINA” marks her first guest appearance on a television sitcom since “I Dream Of Jeannie” which began a five year run on NBC and continues to air daily on cable and syndication around the globe.
Hanson’s debut “Middle of Nowhere” went platinum with the hit song “MMMBop” which garnered the Oklahoma brothers three Grammy nominations. Their critically acclaimed follow-up album, “This Time Around,” released earlier this year, was written and produced by the brothers.
In the episode, Eden plays the Great Aunt Irma, the matriarch of the Spellman clan and dreaded holy terror of the Other Realm. Aunt Irma has learned that Sabrina’s (Melissa Joan Hart) ex-boyfriend Harvey (guest star Nate Richert) has knowledge that Sabrina is a witch and is determined to test Harvey to see where his loyalties lie. Meanwhile, Roxie’s (Soleil Moon Frye) ex-boyfriend Isaac Hanson, playing himself, surprises her by performing with his brothers Taylor and Zac, at the soup kitchen where she volunteers.
“SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH” is executive produced by Paula Hart and Bruce Ferber. The series is produced by Viacom Productions in association with Hartbreak Films and also stars Caroline Rhea, Beth Broderick, Elisa Donovan, Trevor Lissauer, and Nick Bakay as the voice of Salem. # # #
