Stars Of “Looney Tunes: Back In Action” Join Stars Of NASCAR® To Turn Up The Heat In The Desert

(October 30, 2003 – Phoenix) – NASCAR® star Jeff Gordon will make his big screen debut next month with a cameo role in “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” the upcoming live-action adventure comedy from Warner Bros. Pictures. But first, Gordon and his biggest, er, loudest fan, Yosemite Sam, will team up for some “Action at the Track” this weekend in Phoenix. “Ha! Them varmints’d go faster on the Metro,” said Sam of his and Gordon’s competitors. So, come Sunday, it’s Lights! Camera! Action! And they’re off … way off. For the third consecutive year, the renowned Looney Tunes crew will return to the world of NASCAR®, this time screaming into Phoenix International Raceway in vehicles featuring special paint schemes based on “Looney Tunes: Back in Action.” The feature film, which stars Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, Heather Locklear, and Steve Martin, hits theaters on November 14th. Through a partnership between Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Chevrolet, and Action Performance Companies Inc., four NASCAR® drivers -- Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Steve Park, and Brian Vickers -- will drive Looney Tunes-branded Chevrolets in Phoenix. *This guarantee is for publicity purposes only and represents no express promise of excitement. Televised nationally on NBC, the Checker Auto Parts 500, the NASCAR® Winston Cup event scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2nd, will feature the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet Monte Carlo of Gordon and Yosemite Sam, Park partnering with Daffy Duck in the No. 30 AOL Chevy, and Vickers taking Bugs Bunny along for the ride in the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Monte Carlo. Harvick hooks up with his favorite Looney Tunes teammate, the Tasmanian Devil, to take his No. 6 Chevrolet for a spin in the Chevy Silverado 150, the NASCAR® Craftsman Truck Series race set for Friday, Oct. 31st. This will mark the first time that the Looney Tunes will “animate” a truck series event. “‘Animate’ -- now that’s clever. Who writes this stuff!?!,” interjected Bugs Bunny. “We are very excited to once again partner with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Action Performance on the Looney Tunes program,” said Jim Campbell, marketing director for Chevy Racing and Monte Carlo. “It’s always fun to pair some of our great Chevy drivers with these characters, and, most importantly, it’s a real treat for NASCAR® fans.” Additionally, the official pace car for the Checker Auto Parts 500 will also be a “Looney Tunes: Back in Action”-themed Chevrolet Monte Carlo. “We are pleased to be teaming up with such great partners for another year and to have our characters and the ‘Looney Tunes: Back in Action’ film represented in Phoenix,” said Jordan Sollitto, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “Our hope is that Bugs, Daffy, and the rest of our characters will help get one of these Monte Carlos into Victory Lane.” The weekend will feature a first-ever Looney Tunes “Pit Stop” themed family area with Looney Tunes character interactive inflatables, “Looney Tunes: Back In Action” video game kiosks from Electronic Arts (EA), Looney Tunes costume character meet-and-greets and other activities that will make a day at the races even more fun for the entire family. “Yeah, bwing the kids. It’ll be a weal ‘Tweet.’ Get it? I made a funny. Ain’t I a stinka?,” added Tweety. Action Performance has created all of the collectible die-cast racecar replicas and other memorabilia related to the “Looney Tunes: Back in Action” program at PIR. Race fans will find event and driver merchandise featuring “Looney Tunes: Back in Action” at the raceway throughout the weekend, as well as through Action’s standard distribution channels. “Not that we’d ever want to turn this festive event into something tawdry and commercial. It’s just a great way for my fans to show their adoration.” Daffy explained. “With Phoenix International Raceway being our company’s ‘home’ track, we are very proud to have the Looney Tunes program here,” noted Fred Wagenhals, Action Performance’s chairman, president and CEO. “This is going to be such an exciting weekend for all fans.” "We are pleased and delighted to be associated with the ‘Looney Tunes: Back in Action’ movie as part of our annual Checker Auto Parts 500 presented by Havoline race weekend,” said Bryan Sperber, Phoenix International Raceway Track President. The Looney Tunes characters first partnered with NASCAR® at Richmond International Raceway in 2001, when several NASCAR® teams featured Looney Tunes graphics on their Chevrolet Monte Carlos in the Winston Cup race. In 2002, the relationship was expanded to include not only Winston Cup, but Busch Series drivers as well, and the program, which was the largest race-related NASCAR® promotion ever, was awarded PROMO Magazine’s 2003 EMMA Award for "Best Promotion" of the year in the “Live Event” category and Sports Business Journal’s “Promotion of the Year.” “Promotion? Did someone say promotion? If anyone deserves a promotion, it’s me,” added Daffy. “Do you know how many years I’ve been playing second fiddle to that rabbit? We’ll finish this in Phoenix – if the rabbit doesn’t make a wrong turn at Albuquerque.” About Warner Bros. Consumer Products Warner Bros. Consumer Products, a Warner Bros.
