Special Edition Of Hitchcock’s “North By Northwest” On DVD & VHS From Warner Home Video Plus VHS Collector’s Edition Of “Eyes Wide Shut”
(July 31, 2000 – Burbank, CA) - “North by Northwest” -- Alfred Hitchcock’s sleek masterwork starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason -- will be released for the first time ever on DVD and as a VHS Special Edition on August 29. A VHS Collector’s Edition of “Eyes Wide Shut,” the critically-acclaimed final film from master filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, also toplines ‘Big Box Office,’ the fourth event of Warner Home Video’s yearlong Century 2000 promotion. The DVD will sell for the suggested retail price of $24.98; both videos are priced at $19.98 SRP/$13.95 MAP.
Nominated for three Academy Awards® including Best Screenplay and called “one of the all-time great entertainments” by critic Leonard Maltin, “North by Northwest” stars Grant as a Manhattan adman mistaken for a spy who escapes kidnapping and dodges a murder frame-up. Eventually, he eludes that notorious low-flying cropduster and, in the film’s classic climax, rescues Eva Marie Saint on Mount Rushmore.
