(January 14, 2002 – Burbank, CA) – Ruth Clampett, daughter of legendary animation director, Bob Clampett and owner and creative director for Clampett Studio Collections, is teaming up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to oversee the Warner Bros. gallery of collectible animation art, it was announced today by Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing for Warner Bros. Clampett will be responsible for the distribution of existing Warner Bros. animation art and fine art prints inventory. The inventory, developed over the last twelve years at the studio, includes hand-signed animation cels from legendary animation director's Friz Freleng,
Bill Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Additionally, it also includes original production cels.
Additionally, Clampett will utilize her company to create new limited edition fine art based on the classic Warner Bros. animation and film properties. The first releases will include one featuring a hand-painted cel of Tweety and Sylvester from the classic Looney Tunes cartoon "Tree Cornered Tweety." Other new releases include a giclee* print of a Pepe Le Pew and Penelope pastel from artist Scott Seeto, and a Scooby-Doo haunted house giclee print from artist Vince Musacchia, that will premiere in January.
“Warner Bros. Consumer Products recognizes and values the work of these legendary animation directors as an art form and we appreciate that there are animation art collectors who feel passionately about these works,” said McTier. “Ruth Clampett is the perfect choice for spearheading this operation because of her background – both professionally and personally -- and unique appreciation for the collecting world and these pieces of art. This new agreement will allow us to reach out to this specialized audience, while preserving the inherent value of these collections and the heritage of our characters.”
“The team at Clampett Studio Collections is a group of talented individuals with extensive experience in the Animation Gallery business,” said Clampett. “By setting up this new program, Warner Bros. Consumer Products is showing a commitment to a premiere collection of fine art and collectibles for the company’s world-class family of properties.”
Clampett has spent a lifetime surrounded by art and animation. In 1984, the Clampett family established the Bob Clampett Animation Foundation and began selling limited edition animation art taken from Bob’s original drawings. Additionally, it awarded scholarships to animation students.
