Oregon Scientific Announces Launch Of Its Newest Super Hero Laptop: “Superman” Laptop Advance
(December 16, 2005 - Tualatin, OR) – Today Oregon Scientific announced a continuation of their successful partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The world-renowned consumer electronics company has been awarded rights to the educational laptop license from Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Comics and will create Superman Laptop Advance™, just in time for the release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming feature film, "Superman Returns," in summer 2006. Last year, Oregon Scientific produced the award-winning Batman Power Wing Laptop and next year’s Superman Laptop Advance promises to be an even greater success.
“Our partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products was extremely successful this past year and we’re confident that the coming year will be even better,” said Bill Uzell, Oregon Scientific executive vice president. “It’s a great opportunity to be able to create an educational laptop inspired by the epic story of Superman. Kids are going to love how the Superman Laptop Advance pops open and parents will value the full range of learning activities.”
Oregon Scientific’s Superman Laptop Advance will be perfect for kids ages 5+ and will feature activities in math, logic, memory and spelling, 30 activities in English and 30 activities in Spanish. This is the company’s first licensed learning laptop to be fully bilingual. To embark on the learning adventure, aspiring young super heroes merely wave their hand above the lid; this will activate the classic Superman song and pop open the lid. An internal antenna within the lid functions with unique sensor technology, detecting a hand’s natural heat and electromagnetic field and activates the lid to spring into action. A QWERTY keyboard and LCD screen help lead young learners on a super hero adventure where imagination combines with learning and fun. For younger learners, a new laptop will be introduced for children ages 3+. It will include eight learning activities with an ALPHA keyboard.
