Marcia Aoki Appointed Managing Director Of Warner Bros. Consumer Products Japan Office
(March 19, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – Marcia Aoki has been appointed Managing Director of the Warner Bros. Consumer Products office in Japan, it was announced today by Mark Matheny, Executive Vice President, International for Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Reporting directly to Matheny, Aoki will manage day-to-day operations of the company’s office in Japan, while overseeing the development and implementation of strategies that will continue to develop Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ core brands and businesses in the Japanese market. Additionally, she will be responsible for defining policies, strategies and action plans and monitoring overall business performance.
“We are very excited that Marcia has joined our highly successful international business team,” said Matheny. “With a wide range of experience in the industry, extensive knowledge of the Japanese market, excellent management skills and the ability to creatively build new synergies, she will be a key asset in leading our organization and partners in this important business sector.”
Before joining Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Aoki was a business consultant to several U.S. companies in Japan, where she helped develop “Snoopy Studios” within Universal Studio’s new theme park, slated to open in Osaka in April 2001. In the 17 years prior, she worked for United Media, both in New York and Tokyo, in which she built the licensing, publishing and retail platforms for various United Media properties in Japan.
Aoki holds a Master of Arts degree in International Economics and Social History from the International Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies and Media Communications from the University of Southern California.
