Lillian Laserson Promoted To Senior Vice President & General Counsel, DC Comics & MAD Magazine

(December 2, 2002 – New York, NY) – Lillian Laserson has been promoted to Senior Vice President & General Counsel, DC Comics & MAD Magazine, Paul Levitz, Publisher, DC Comics & MAD Magazine, announced today. Laserson will continue to oversee all litigation, contractual matters and the protection of DC Comics and MAD Magazine’s intellectual properties, taking on additional responsibilities for negotiating the company’s film and television licenses and acquisitions. “I'm pleased to recognize Lillian's contributions in the management of DC's treasure trove of creative properties, and to be able to rely on her legal skill as we develop our characters for the future,” said Levitz. Prior to her promotion, Laserson served as Vice President & General Counsel, a position she has held since 1994. She has been with DC Comics and MAD Magazine since 1990, when she was hired as Vice President, Legal Affairs. Laserson is currently Assistant Secretary of the Copyright Society of the USA and was formerly a Trustee and Member of the Executive Committee. Laserson was a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York’s Committee on Copyright and Literary Property from 1998-2001 and a member of the Entertainment Law Committee from 1993-1996. Before DC Comics, she was Associate General Counsel of Jim Henson Productions. Earlier in her career, Laserson was an associate with Phillips, Nizer, Benjamin, Krim & Ballon and then with Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman. Laserson graduated cum laude from the Cardozo School of Law. Prior to embarking on her career in law, Laserson was a working actor on television and stage, in New York and Los Angeles.
