Lance Volland To Lead Publicity At Warner Bros. Pictures International

(March 21, 2007 - Los Angeles, CA) – Lance Volland has been named Senior Vice President, Publicity, at Warner Bros. Pictures International, it was announced today by Sue Kroll, the division’s President of Marketing. Moving up from the role of vice president, Volland will head the international publicity department for the studio, creating and overseeing all aspects of publicity campaigns for WBPI’s international feature film releases. He is currently at work on ongoing campaigns for the highly anticipated films “300,” “Zodiac,” “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” and “Ocean’s 13,” as well as preparing international campaigns for Neil Jordan’s “The Brave One,” Francis Lawrence’s “I Am Legend,” Robert Zemeckis’s “Beowulf” and Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd.” Volland’s broadened responsibilities include supervising all publicity materials, as well as junkets, film festivals, local production publicity, media promotions and tie-ins, trade publicity, awards campaigns (HFPA, BAFTA), and publicity strategies and directives to all overseas offices. He will continue to be based at the studio’s worldwide headquarters in Burbank, reporting directly to Kroll. “Lance is very well respected throughout the international marketing community for his insight and savvy in the publicity arena,” Kroll said. “In his nine years at the studio, he has become a key contributor to our global marketing strategies. I am tremendously proud of Lance, and delighted to recognize his dedication and accomplishments with this promotion.” Prior to being named to his new post, Volland served as vice president, international publicity, a post he has held since 2003. In this capacity, he has worked on campaigns for all of the “Harry Potter” series of films, as well as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “The Last Samurai,” “The Polar Express,” and numerous others Volland joined the studio in 1998 as a director before being named vice president of publicity in April of 2003. He started his career at the publicity agency Rogers & Cowan.
