Joss Whedon Wrote And Directed An Episode Of The WB’s “Angel”

(January 15, 2002 – Pasadena, CA) — For the first time since the series premiere in 1999, “ANGEL” co-creator and executive producer Joss Whedon wrote and directed an upcoming episode scheduled to air Monday, February 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The WB. In the episode, entitled “Waiting in the Wings,” Angel (David Boreanaz) takes the gang out for an evening at the ballet, but becomes suspicious when the prima ballerina is one he saw dance more than a century ago. He and Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) sneak backstage to investigate and find themselves consumed with an overwhelming passion for one another as the spirits of unrequited lovers take over. The series, which Whedon co-created with David Greenwalt, chronicles a centuries-old vampire on his path to redemption that humorously sets the twists and turns of adulthood against a backdrop of supernatural adventure. As previously announced, beginning on January 10 and continuing through February, “ANGEL” will air in repeat episodes on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET, beginning with the four-episode arc that concluded the series’ second season. Original episodes will continue airing on Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET. “ANGEL” is produced by Mutant Enemy, Inc., David Greenwalt Productions and Kuzui/Sandollar in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television and stars David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards and Amy Acker.
