John Stanley Promoted To Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Warner Home Video UK
(March 3, 2011 – London, UK) – John Stanley has been promoted to Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Warner Home Video UK, it was announced today by Josh Berger, President & Managing Director, Warner Bros. UK, Ireland and Spain, to whom he reports.
In his new position, Stanley will continue to oversee an 85-strong team, managing all of Warner Bros.’ DVD, Blu-ray, digital distribution, interactive entertainment and cross-category retail sales activities in the UK and Ireland. This year, that effort will encompass the home entertainment release of titles such as both parts of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” “The Hangover Part II,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “True Blood Season 3” and “Green Lantern.”

2010 saw Warner Home Video become the UK’s number one value studio (13.4% market share) for the first time in five years. Helping to achieve that was a series of number one performances including the number one Blu-ray studio (18.2% market share), the number one studio for new release TV product (20.6% market share), the number one non-theatrical family entertainment studio (16.2% market share), and the number one overall studio in Ireland (15.1% market share).
Contributing to that success were a number titles that outperformed expectations, among others, “The Pacific,” “Inception,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “The Blind Side,” “The Firm,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Supernatural” in new release, as well as “The Hangover,” “Gran Torino,” Harry Potter 1-6 and “The Polar Express” in catalogue.
Stanley joined Warner Bros. in February 2007 as Vice President & Managing Director, Warner Home Video UK. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, rising from Sales Director to Managing Director. He started his career in the field marketing sector working with clients such as Nestle, Vodafone and P&G. ###
