Joel J. Ehrlich Of DC Comics, MAD Magazine & Warner Bros. Consumer Products Named Boys & Girls Clubs Of America Trustee

(November 20, 2002 – New York) – Joel J. Ehrlich, Senior Vice President, Advertising & Promotions, DC Comics, MAD Magazine & Warner Bros. Consumer Products has been named a national trustee of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. As a trustee, Joel Ehrlich will play an active role in securing financial support for the national youth organization and will help formulate strategies for positive youth development programs. “Joel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the for-profit sector to his new role as national trustee for Boys & Girls Clubs of America,” said Roxanne Spillett, president of B&GCA. “It is exciting to have him devote so much time, energy and resources to the ‘business’ of serving America’s youth.” Professionally, Ehrlich serves as Senior Vice President, Advertising & Promotions for DC Comics, MAD Magazine & Warner Bros. Consumer Products. He creates integrated licensing and marketing promotions for the world’s most famous superheroes - Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and the world’s most famous gap-toothed cover boy - Alfred E. Neuman. Previously, Ehrlich served as Senior Vice President for Corporate Sales of Marvel Entertainment Group, Inc. Ehrlich began his sales and marketing career with Searle Pharmaceuticals and then moved into medical trade publishing at Medical Economics, where he became an award-winning publisher of medical trade magazines. Originally a 4th grade teacher in the New York City public schools, he specialized in working with underprivileged children. In 1995 Ehrlich received the Brandweek Youth Marketer of the Year Award. Ehrlich lives in Westchester, New York with his wife Phyllis Ehrlich, a Senior Vice President at the Cartoon Network. They have three children. Boys & Girls Clubs comprises a national network of 3,000 neighborhood-based facilities annually serving some 3.3 million young people, primarily from disadvantaged circumstances. Known as “The Positive Place for Kids,” the Clubs provide character development programs on a daily basis for children 6-18 years old, conducted by a full-time professional staff. Key programs emphasize character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts and sports, fitness and recreation.
