Gwen Whitson Named Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Warner Bros. Online & entertaindom.com

(May 17, 2000 – Glendale, CA) - Gwen Whitson has been named to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Warner Bros. Online and Entertaindom.com, where she will act as General Counsel for both units, it was announced today by Kevin Tsujihara, Executive Vice President, New Media, Warner Bros. In her new capacity, Whitson will be responsible for all business affairs, legal affairs and regulatory matters for Warner Bros. Online and Entertaindom.com, including the drafting and negotiation of all programming, acquisition and licensing agreements, e-commerce ventures and technology service agreements. “Gwen’s remarkable breadth of experience, far-ranging legal knowledge and passion for the Internet and the entertainment industry are invaluable to our team,” said Tsujihara. “With more than a decade of studio experience, she has a unique perspective and ability to help lead Warner Bros. into the exciting future ahead for online entertainment.” Whitson joined Warner Bros. in 1989 as Vice President & General Counsel, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution and was later promoted to Senior Vice President & General Counsel for the division. Most recently as Warner Bros.’ Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Worldwide Legal Affairs, she was legal advisor to both Warner Bros. Online and Entertaindom.com. Prior to that assignment, she coordinated the worldwide legal affairs for Warner Bros.’ retail, licensing and merchandising businesses and certain international distribution issues. In addition, she has overseen several special corporate projects, including serving as the chief legal advisor for the Studio’s 75th Anniversary commemoration. Before coming to Warner Bros., Whitson practiced law at O’Melveny and Myers and before that at Overton, Lyman and Prince. She is also a noted industry expert who has represented Warner Bros. and the other members of the Motion Picture Association on the Board of Directors of AGICOA (the Geneva-based collective rights management organization of film producers). Whitson graduated magna cum laude from Pomona College with a bachelor’s degree in government and earned her J.D. with honors from UCLA Law School.
