Greg Proops From The Improv Television Series “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Hosts “How Looney Can You Be?” Competiton At Toys “R” Us Times Square
(October 24, 2003 – New York) – Greg Proops from the improv television series “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” led kids in a special armpit rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” at the “How Looney Can You Be?” competition at Toys “R” Us Times Square today sponsored by Mattel, Inc. (NYSE: MAT) and Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The contest was part of the launch of Mattel’s new Rude ‘Tude™ Taz toy, which was recently featured in Toy Wishes – the ultimate holiday magazine. Rude ‘Tude™ Taz was also a “Preferred Choice Award” winner for Creative Child Magazine’s holiday toy test.
Kids had a ‘gas’ of a time as they imitated their favorite Looney Tunes characters, such as Taz, Daffy, Bugs and Tweety for Greg Proops. Jim Cummings, two-time Emmy Award-winning voice actor who has brought to life the wildly-popular Warner Bros. character Taz and Jim Silver, co-publisher of Toy Wishes, were on hand to score the competition.
The lucky grand-prize winner who was as “looney” as their favorite Looney Tunes pal won tickets to attend an exclusive New York screening of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming live-action feature film, “Looney Tunes: Back in Action” – set to hit theaters November 14th. The four runners-up were awarded a complete line of Looney Tunes toys from Mattel including the new interactive plush toy Rude ‘Tude™ Taz that specializes in making “music” with his armpit.
“Taz’s appeal to kids is classic. He’s funny and silly and completely reflects one aspect of kids' humor," says toy and children's lifestyle expert Chris Byrne, also known as The Toy Guy™. “Rude ‘Tude™ Taz will have kids laughing out loud as he brings Taz’s outrageous behavior and lovably cantankerous personality to life.”
The new line of Looney Tunes™ toys by Mattel is inspired by Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming live-action feature film, “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” as well as toys based on the classic cartoon series. The line features the always naughty Rude ‘Tude™ Taz. He’s a plush toy that makes music with his armpit. By placing Taz’s right hand under his armpit, then moving his arm up and down, he makes sounds of the flatulent nature to the song “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” Put his right hand over his mouth and he will make funny phrases and sounds. Rude ‘Tude™ Taz retails for $19.99.
