FIFA Appoints Warner Bros Consumer Products Exclusive Licensing Representative For The 2006 FIFA World Cup™ In Markets Outside Europe And Japan
(June 8, 2004 – Burbank, CA) - FIFA has appointed Warner Bros. Consumer Products as its sole and exclusive worldwide Licensing Representative for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ in all markets outside Europe and Japan.
Under the deal, Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) offices outside of Europe and Japan will take charge of the licensing, merchandising, and retail program supporting 2006 FIFA World Cup™. WBCP will license the rights to use the Official 2006 FIFA World Cup™ Event Emblem, Official Mascot, and the FIFA World Cup Trophy for products in all key categories--sports apparel and accessories, balls, footwear, bags, toys and games, headwear, pennants, and more.

The official merchandise products of the FIFA World Cup™ have become increasingly popular among the world’s football fans. Since the 1994 FIFA World Cup™, retail sales of licensed goods have tripled. The event licensing programme, which is handled by FIFA’s Marketing & TV Division, has been expanded steadily over time and the structure of the programme has been constantly adapted to satisfy the needs of fans and to make the products more broadly available.
