Feel The Rush Of The Upcoming Film, “Torque,” As Warner Bros. Pictures And Warner Bros. Online Throttle Up With “Maximum Torque” – A New 3-D Online Game

(December 16, 2003 – Glendale, CA) – Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Online today announced the launch of “Maximum Torque,” an eye-popping online videogame that lets players step into the heart-pounding action of the upcoming high-speed action adventure film release, “Torque.” A free download that can be easily played on a Mac or PC through a standard Internet browser, the game is currently available at www.ugo.com and will launch on www.maximumtorque.com beginning Dec. 22. A blazing head-to-head motorcycle-racing simulator, “Maximum Torque” uses the latest in web-based technology to create a rich 3-D racing environment with immersive sound. The game pits one of four user selected motorcycle racers, including a must-see-to-believe jet powered ride, against a computer controlled racer. The two engage in an all out chase through desert, palm, and city scenes that mirror film locations. Moveable cameras allow several views of the action in the lushly rendered racing environments and the 3-D sound pulls the player even deeper into the racing experience along with the energy-infused soundtrack created just for this game. Power ups ranging from gas refills to nitro boosts help the racer along the way while oncoming traffic, blocked roads, and the computer opponent all risk sending the racer over the handle bars in a fiery wipeout. Players will be able to select from multiple outfits to give their character a custom look. Starring Ice Cube alongside Martin Henderson, Monet Mazur, Adam Scott, Matt Schulze, Jaime Pressly and Jay Hernandez, “Torque” is scheduled to premiere in theatres nationwide January 16 2004. “Torque” tells the story of biker Cary Ford (Henderson), who has returned to his hometown to reunite with his girlfriend (Mazur) and take care of a little unfinished business. When he skipped town months ago, Ford was in possession of several motorcycles belonging to Henry, (Matt Schulze), a ruthless drug dealer. Now Henry’s putting the squeeze on Ford in an attempt to retrieve the bikes, which have something a little more valuable than gas in their tanks. When Ford is less than willing to cooperate, Henry frames him for the murder of the younger brother of fearsome motorcycle gang leader Trey (Ice Cube). Racing across the desert in a perilous attempt to prove his innocence and convince Shane that he’s worth a second chance, Ford must outrace his enemies if he wants to clear his name and live to ride another day.
