Emmy Award-Winning Drama “China Beach” Joins History Channel Daily Programming Line-Up

(May 21, 2001 - New York, NY) - The History Channel® has acquired the rights to air the 65 episodes of the critically-acclaimed Vietnam era drama “China Beach” as part of the network’s weekly programming schedule. The series will debut on The History Channel starting Monday, June 4 with a special ten-hour marathon from 10 am until 8 pm ET/PT and then will air at 7 pm ET/PT starting Tuesday, June 5 in its regularly schedule weeknight slot. “China Beach,” which was licensed to The History Channel by Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution, originally aired on ABC from 1988 –1991. In its four-year run, the series was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series three seasons in a row, garnered 29 Emmy nominations and won five Emmy awards. Starring Dana Delany, Marg Helgenberger, Chloe Webb, Brian Wimmer and Robert Picardo, “China Beach” follows the day-to-day lives of the personnel based at the 510th Evac Medical and R&R facility near Da Nang in the Republic of South Vietnam. Covering the years from 1967 – 1969, the drama details how these Americans try to come to terms with the horrors of the war. Delany won two Outstanding Actress Emmys for her role in the series and has since gone on to star in numerous television movies. Helgenberger received an Outstanding Supporting-Actress Emmy for her role and is currently starring in the hit series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigators.” “China Beach” was produced by John Wells, the Emmy-Award winning producer of “The West Wing,” “ER” and “Third Watch.” Warner Bros.
