Diane Von Furstenberg Introduces Wonder Woman Inspired Collection And Comic Book

(October 14, 2008 – New York, NY) - To celebrate the debut of Diane von Furstenberg’s Wonder Woman-inspired Holiday 2008 collection, DVF will release a limited edition comic book “Be The Wonder Woman You Can Be: The Adventures of Diva, Viva and Fifa,” published by DC Comics. The proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit Vital Voices, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women worldwide. “The collection and stories that I have created are really about empowerment and finding our inner strength,” says Diane von Furstenberg. “The truth is that there is a little bit of Wonder Woman inside each of us.” The collection features a capsule of ready-to-wear dresses, inspired by the super heroine’s motifs and powerful mystique. Gold stars shoot across a black dress and fireworks explode on fabrics recalling Wonder Woman’s transformation from her alter ego Diana. The comic series echoes the collection’s message of empowerment through the stories of its characters Diva, Viva, and Fifa. In addition to the DVF story illustrated by artist Konstantin Kakanias, the large-format book features a cover art gallery through the ages, and includes previous published material from William Moulton Marston, comic historian Les Daniels, television’s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, and Gloria Steinem. Diane has included in the book her “Words to Live By,” phrases that inspire her and that she hopes will inspire others. “Diane von Furstenberg is the embodiment of a Wonder Woman. She is a source of inspiration to women around the world, and her passion is ever-present in this collection and comic book,” said Brad Globe, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The comic graphics will also adorn T-shirts, tote bags and notebooks that have been produced in limited edition to further benefit Vital Voices.
