Cheryl Rubin Promoted To Senior Vice President, Brand Management, DC Comics

(June 24, 2004 - New York, NY) - Cheryl Rubin has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Brand Management, DC Comics, it was announced today by Paul Levitz, President & Publisher, DC Comics. Rubin, who moves up from Vice President, Brand Management, will continue supervising the brand, creative and merchandising activities for the library of DC Comics and MAD Magazine properties. Rubin will also continue to be DC’s liaison to Warner Bros. Consumer Products which handles the licensing of consumer products related to the comics, feature films, animated series and live action television series which are based on DC and MAD properties. Additionally, she continues to oversee DC Direct, DC’s own toy and collectibles business targeted to the specialty store market and to work with Levitz on brand management of the properties in other forms. “During Cheryl’s 17 years at DC, she has worked on literally hundreds of tie-in promotions and thousands of products and has positively impacted them with her efforts,” said Levitz. “Incredible properties like Batman and Superman require careful management to maximize their long-term value, and Cheryl’s been a vital part of the team that keeps them flying high.” Rubin, who began her career at DC Comics in 1987 as Licensing Sales Manager, was promoted to Licensing Director in 1989, Vice President, Licensing in 1994, and Vice President, Licensing & Merchandising in 2000, when she was given the additional responsibilities of overseeing DC Direct. Last year, her title was changed to Vice President, Brand Management, to better reflect her more expansive role within the Company, which includes serving as a liaison with other sister Warner Bros. Entertainment and Time Warner companies on the use of DC’s brands. Rubin began her career in the licensing industry with Macy's, where she worked for six years managing event marketing and sponsorship for annual events including the Thanksgiving Day Parade. She served two terms on the Licensing Industry Merchandisers Association (LIMA) Board of Directors from 1997-2001. DC Comics, a Warner Bros.
