Central European Media Enterprises’ PRO.BG Channel And Warner Bros. International Television Distribution Sign Multiyear Output Deal For The Studio’s TV Series And Feature Films In Bulgaria

(July 2, 2009 - Sofia, Bulgaria and Burbank, CA) – Bulgarian broadcaster PRO.BG, a Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. (CME) channel, and Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD) have signed a new, multiyear programming output deal which will make PRO.BG the new home for television series, theatrical motion pictures and animated titles from the Studio in Bulgaria, it was announced today by Ognian Dimov, general director of PRO.BG Media Ltd., and Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television. The agreement continues PRO.BG’s serious investment in production and programming, which also includes a number of rights deals to professional football (soccer), including the Bulgarian A league as well as UEFA’s Champions League and Europa League. Under terms of the new agreement, which begins in July, PRO.BG has obtained the Bulgarian broadcast rights for new television programs distributed by WBITD, as well as a slate of upcoming motion pictures and a number of feature films from the vast Warner Bros. Entertainment collection. “After six months of very competitive negotiation, we are extremely glad to have landed the most important and biggest deal on our market. PRO.BG is going to air more than 900 hours of programming per year from Warner Bros.,” said Liliana Slavova, Program Director, PRO.BG. “The latest hit films and TV series from Warner Bros. will be available soon for Bulgarian viewers, only on PRO.BG, and our viewers will be happy to learn that we have acquired the rights to the series involved “for life,” meaning that whenever a new season of a particular program has been made, in Bulgaria it will be aired on PRO.BG.” “This deal positions PRO.BG to become the Bulgarian home for our highly sought-after Warner Bros. programming, and is a great fit for the channel’s audience,” said Schlesinger. “With a healthy slate of continuing hits and some of the most highly anticipated new series of the upcoming U.S. television season, we are pleased that PRO.BG has selected our programming to be the core U.S. programming to launch their channel, and we look forward to working closely with them to make our shows hits with their viewers.” Television series licensed under the deal and set to premiere this fall on PRO.BG include “Fringe,” the #1 new program of the 2008–2009 U.S. television season among Adults 18–49; “The Mentalist,” the #1 new program of the 2008–2009 U.S. television season among Total Viewers; “Dark Blue,” a new drama from Jerry Bruckheimer Television; and “Southland,” a drama from John Wells, the Emmy®-winning writer/producer of “The West Wing” and “ER”; among others.
