Cartoon Network Latin America And Warner Bros. Consumer Products Have Sealed An Agreement With Ahold For A Licensed And On-Air Promotion On Behalf Of “The Powerpuff Girls”

(July 30, 2002 – Atlanta, GA and Burbank, CA) - Cartoon Network Latin America and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have sealed an agreement with Ahold for a licensed and on-air promotion for nine key countries in Latin America. The Powerpuff Girls™ promotion will launch at: Disco supermarkets in Argentina, Bom Preço in Brazil, Santa Isabel in Chile, Má por Menos in Costa Rica, Paiz in Guatemala, Paiz in Honduras, Stock supermarkets in Paraguay, Santa Isabel in Peru and Pali in Nicaragua. Starting in July, the duration of the deal is three weeks. The pan-regional promotion celebrates the “super” concept and product in the supermarkets. Celebrating Las Chicas Superpoderosas (The Powerpuff Girls), the promotion encompasses Superofertas (Super Sales), Superpremios (Super Prizes), and Supermarcas (Super Brands) for Supercompradores (Super Shoppers). For each participating product purchased, the shopper will receive a coupon that can be entered into the raffle. The Grand Prizes will be awarded to the Supercompradores in each country and will vary per region: one minute of free shopping in Argentina, one of two houses and 18 cars in Brazil, two minutes of free shopping in Chile, one of four cars in Costa Rica, one minute of free shopping in Guatemala, one of two cars in Honduras, two free “The Powerpuff Girls: The Movie” passes in Paraguay, a trip to Atlanta, Georgia in Peru and a car in Nicaragua. Other prizes will be awarded instantaneously if the participating product’s bar code registers as a winner at the checkout line. Prizes include The Powerpuff Girls merchandise from Warner Bros. Consumer Products and its licensees such as tickets for “The Powerpuff Girls: The Movie”, posters, coloring books and glasses, among other prizes. The 30-second animated spots are created by Cartoon Network for Disco supermarkets and will be airing on the Cartoon Network Argentina feed through August 8. The spots illustrate shoppers who turn into Powerpuff Girls while shopping at the store. Warner Bros.
