”Never Apologize”: Malcolm McDowell Stars In The Spirited Documentary About Controversial British Director Lindsay Anderson To Debut On DVD May 31

(April 20, 2011 – Burbank, CA) – “Never Apologize,” the fascinating documentary of Malcolm McDowell's celebration of the provocative Lindsay Anderson and their famous colleagues, will be released on May 31 for the first time on DVD in the U.S. A unique blend of film, theatre and storytelling and a Cannes Film Festival selection (2007), the documentary weaves a mesmerizing mosaic about Anderson, his friend, mentor and director, who brought him to international prominence through his debut role in “If...,” which led Stanley Kubrick, after years of searching, to cast McDowell in “A Clockwork Orange.” Alan Bates, Bette Davis, John Ford, John Gielgud, Lillian Gish, Richard Harris, Laurence Olivier, Rachel Roberts and Princess Diana spring to life in McDowell's hilarious, chilling and moving accounts, drawn from his memories and through writings by and about Anderson, one of the most significant forces in British culture. Directed by Mike Kaplan, who worked extensively with both Kubrick and Anderson, “Never Apologize” evolved from productions at the Edinburgh Festival and London's National Theatre. A wealth of archival material surrounds McDowell's compelling, inspired and wide-ranging performance, emerging as a genuine cinema experience ("a surprising coup that grips consistently for every one of its 111 minutes"- David Robinson, Sight and Sound). McDowell stars in the upcoming film “Vamps,” directed by Amy Heckerling, opening later this year. And “Franklin & Bash,” the new TNT comedy-drama TV series debuting this summer features McDowell as the head of a buttoned-down law firm joined by two young, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants street lawyers who cause a seismic culture clash within the firm. He will also be featured in the upcoming film “Silent Hill Revelation,” the sequel to the 2006 hit “Silent Hill.” About Warner Home Video: With operations in 90 international territories, Warner Home Video, a division of Warner Bros.
