“Nip/Tuck: The Sixth And Final Season” Comes To DVD June 8, 2010 From Warner Home Video
(March 24, 2010 – Burbank, CA) – All good things must come to an end – even a Golden Globe® Award–Award–winning and critically acclaimed series like “Nip/Tuck.” On June 8, 2010, Warner Home Video (WHV) brings the sixth and final season of this groundbreaking original series to DVD. Titled “Nip/Tuck: The Sixth and Final Season,” this release will feature 19 cutting-edge episodes and will retail for $59.98 SRP. Order due date has been set for May 4, 2010.
During the sixth and last season of “Nip/Tuck,” McNamara/Troy’s financially struggling practice manages to stay afloat during a downturned economy thanks to the help of Dr. Mike Hamoui (Mario Lopez), a plastic surgeon who brings a very unique niche specialty to their business. Sean (Dylan Walsh) marries Teddy (Rose McGowan) while Christian (Julian McMahon) is sued for divorce by a heartbroken and angry Liz (Roma Maffia). Matt (John Hensley) decides to attend mime school in an effort to start a new career. His new vocation however, takes a strange turn and he manages to land himself in jail. Christian barters with the authorities for his release and performs cosmetic surgery on a death-row inmate (Eric Stonestreet – “Modern Family”). Julia’s mother (Vanessa Redgrave) threatens to take custody of Julia (Joely Richardson) and Sean’s kids. As a stipulation to marry Christian, Kimber (Kelly Carlson) terminates her unexpected pregnancy. Sean’s growing disgust of Christian begins to push him to leave the practice.
In spite of their volatile personal and professional lives, Drs. McNamara and Troy do not reject any opportunities to perform their surgical wonders. Patients include a woman who has had her face ripped off by a chimp; a man who wakes from a long coma and asks for surgery to regain all his lost years; a cross-dresser who asks for a lifelike mask to wear when he’s on the town in drag with his wife; two realtors who want to look more like real-life Barbie and Ken dolls, and much more.
“‘Nip/Tuck’ is a revolutionary show that broke new ground,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. She added, “It’s an intelligent, innovative and creative series that managed to stay fresh and engaging on a consistent basis. There is nothing like it on television today and it will be greatly missed. The sixth season is filled with captivating episodes, providing a perfect ending to what’s been a magnificent run.”
DVD bonus material includes a featurette titled “Tell Me What You Don’t Like About Yourself – The Psychology.” This featurette examines new trends in plastic surgery and explores why people become addicts to the surgery.
“Nip/Tuck” explores the lives of doctors Sean McNamara and Christian Troy, two talented, hot-shot plastic surgeons whose initial query of patients, “Tell me what you don’t like about yourself,” sets the stage for a series filled with secrets and deception. As close friends and business partners who own an overwhelmingly successful plastic surgery practice, they attempt to bring inner peace and visceral contentment to their patients through external cosmetic surgery procedures. Although their clients aspire to cover up their pain, it is the surgeons who truly wear the masks of anguish, unhappiness and disillusionment. At midlife, the doctors question the prosperity that has brought them so much and yet has offered so little.
“Nip/Tuck” stars Dylan Walsh, Julian McMahon, John Hensley, Roma Maffia, Kelly Carlson and Joely Richardson. The series was created by Ryan Murphy (“Glee,” “Popular”), and season six was executive produced by Murphy, Michael M. Robin, Lyn Greene & Richard Levine, Sean Jablonski, Jennifer Salt and Brad Falchuk. It premiered in July 2003 on the FX cable network and, since its debut, the show has exploded to critical acclaim and earned multiple awards, including a Golden Globe® Award in 2005 for Best Television Series – Drama. Season Six of “Nip/Tuck” premiered on FX October 14, 2009. “Nip/Tuck” is from The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
