“Horses: The Story Of Equus” Debuts On DVD June 8th To Coincide With The Excitement Of The Triple Crown Of Thoroughbred Racing

(March 3, 2010 – Burbank, CA) – Run with the horses on a spectacular journey when Warner Home Video releases “Horses: The Story of Equus” on DVD June 8, 2010. Narrated by Golden Globe® Winner, Gabriel Byrne (TV’s “In Treatment”), “Horses: The Story of Equus” is a fascinating tribute to the remarkable animals that have been such an integral part of human civilization. In a presentation of art, science and drama, the film features three unique stories following the life of a runaway Black colt, a mischievous Bay colt and a courageous Chestnut filly, each portraying the important relationship between horses and mankind. “Horses: The Story of Equus” was filmed in IMAX’s 15/70 format and exhibited in IMAX® theatres worldwide. The DVD will soon be available to order on May 4, 2010 at the price of $14.98 SRP. “‘Horses: The Story of Equus’ is a visually stunning film, that reminds us of our fascination with and love of horses,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “This film takes the audience into the world of horses like only an IMAX film can and it is sure to delight viewers of all ages.” “Horses: The Story of Equus” is the story of three horses who were all born on the same night but their lives take very different paths. One becomes a racehorse and her story takes us into that extraordinary world, where the ancestry of every horse can be traced back to 1791 and where their overwhelming instinct to run is highly valued. The second is trained as an equestrian horse, an eventer or show horse. But this horse is a unique individual, stubborn and temperamental. After a spectacular failure in competition, he is trained again, this time as a stunt horse in the movies and it's in that world that his capacity for learning and his individual nature triumph. The third horse goes on a completely different journey. He escapes from people and joins the feral herds in the wild. Out there, undisturbed by human contact, the horses revert to natural, herd behavior and this horse becomes our conduit into understanding what horses may have been like before we domesticated them.
