“Catlow” Available On DVD On May 19, 2009 From Warner Home Video
(January 27, 2009 – Burbank, CA) – Stick ‘em up and get ready for a classic western train robbery with the first-time DVD release of “Catlow” from Warner Home Video (WHV) on DVD May 19, 2009. This comedic Western stars the unlikely combination of Oscar® winner Yul Brynner (“The King and I,” “Anna and the King”) and Leonard Nimoy (“Star Trek”) along with Richard Crenna (“The Flamingo Kid,” “Rambo”). Based on the book by prolific and popular Western author Louis L’Amour (“The Sacketts,” “Conagher”), “Catlow” follows the adventures of a renegade outlaw determined to pull off a Confederate gold heist. The DVD will be available for $14.97 SRP with an order due date of April 14, 2009.
“Louis L’Amour is one of America’s favorite storytellers with his tales of life on the western frontier,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “‘Catlow’ is a fun, action-packed heist movie and is sure to make the perfect gift for Dad or any Western fan this Father’s Day.”
Tough, lusty Catlow (Yul Brynner) is fast on the draw and even faster when it comes to making a dollar. He’s also a wanted man. The Mexican Army is after him. So are his hellcat girlfriend (Daliah Lavi), an Indian war party, a vengeful killer (Leonard Nimoy) and several hotheaded cowpokes from Catlow’s outlaw gang. Then there’s Catlow’s best friend Marshal Ben Cowan (Richard Crenna), who wants the pleasure of putting Catlow behind bars all to himself.
Brynner and Crenna bring a backslapping, backstabbing camaraderie to their portrayal of friendly foes. Nimoy, as mean as a hungry coyote, supplies the menace. And director Sam Wanamaker sets up an entertaining tone that’s winkingly amiable one minute and whip-swiftly action-packed the next. Saddle up with “Catlow.”
The release also includes the original theatrical trailer for the film.
