“The Tyra Banks Show” Moves To New York City From Los Angeles This Fall

(June 6, 2007 - Burbank, CA and New York) — Emmy®-winning talk program “The Tyra Banks Show” is moving its production base to New York City from Los Angeles for its upcoming third season in first-run syndication this fall, it was announced today by Hilary Estey McLoughlin, President, Telepictures Productions. The one-hour series—renewed for two more seasons, cleared in 95+% of the country and currently nominated for six Daytime Emmy® Awards—will originate from the Chelsea Television Studios and continue to be helmed by executive producers Alex Duda, John Redmann, Rachel Miskowiec, Benny Medina and Tyra Banks. Many key production staff members will also make the move with the show to New York as it sets up shop this summer in advance of new season launch on September 10. “I’m thrilled to be moving to New York,” said Banks. ”After spending some time in the city this past spring, I knew the energy and rhythm of the city would be great for the show. I feel connected and completely at home. New York is where I had my first apartment as a model and found my independence. It continues to be a constant source of inspiration. Moving the talk show to New York provides a great opportunity to meet all kinds of people and keep sharing the message of empowerment with everyone everywhere. The excitement of New York City will translate to the show each and every day as we continue to face compelling issues...head on.” “We’re thrilled about producing the show in New York, as the city opens up endless creative possibilities and will become a character in the program,” said Estey McLoughlin. “The outspoken nature and energy of New York audiences and guests makes this move a natural for Tyra and will greatly enhance the show.” “Since its inception, ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ has demonstrated, week after week, the creative and ratings growth one expects from a developing franchise player that will be on the air for years to come,” said Werner. “The station community acknowledged their belief in Tyra and her show earlier this year when we secured two-year renewals for the program. The decision by Telepictures and Tyra to move to New York is a signal that Tyra is committed to taking her show to an even higher creative and ratings level. We and our stations are thrilled by this announcement and eagerly look forward to our fall launch with an expanded environment that will bring an even richer program to ‘Tyra’s’ viewers.” “The Tyra Banks Show” speaks to a new generation of women in a relevant voice. In its sophomore season, “The Tyra Banks Show” has received six Daytime Emmy® nominations, including Outstanding Talk Show and Talk Show Host. The show airs in national syndication, with the Fox Owned and Operated Television Stations serving as its flagship broadcast group. The series airs on two stations in many major markets where Fox has a duopoly. The programming flexibility of playing in daytime or in the 5:00 pm hour has proven to be a winning combination with many stations. “The Tyra Banks Show” is produced by Bankable Productions and Handprint Entertainment in association with Telepictures Productions, an industry-leading and Emmy® Award-winning producer of syndicated programming. The series is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, one of the leading distributors of first-run and off-network programming in the domestic television marketplace.
