“The New Maverick” Debuts On DVD May 20, 2008 From Warner Home Video
(March 31, 2008 – Burbank, CA) – Dust off your cowboy hat and get ready for some classic western action as Warner Home Video (WHV) debuts “The New Maverick” on DVD May 20, 2008. Thirteen–time Emmy® nominee James Garner returns as Maverick, the role he originally made famous, for this reunion TV movie. Joining Garner for this romp through the old west are Jack Kelly (who also co-started in the original TV series), Charles Frank (TV’s “Young Maverick”), and Emmy® nominee Susan Sullivan (TV’s “Falcon Crest”). Academy Award® nominee Garner (Best Actor “Murphy’s Romance,” 1986) was nominated for an Emmy® Award in the original series. The DVD will be available for $14.97 SRP with an order due date of April 15, 2008.
“This DVD will make an ideal Father’s Day gift and perfect viewing for the entire family,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing. “The nostalgic appeal of James Garner returning to the role that ignited his long, illustrious career should hold special interest for both Garner and western fans.”
In “The New Maverick,” Garner re-teams with Jack Kelly to reprise their roles as brothers Bret and Bart Maverick from the popular TV show “Maverick.” This time around, the two old West sharpers are joined by their British cousin Beau's college-dropout son, Ben (played by Charles Frank). Together they teach the “new maverick” the tricks of the trade with one last heist to capture a few menacing train robbers and collect a handsome reward.
