“The Matrix Reloaded” Shatters Real World Box Office Records With $134.3 Million Opening Weekend, Biggest Consecutive 4-Day Opening In Motion Picture History

Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “The Matrix Reloaded.” Making motion picture history and shattering numerous industry records, the four day opening weekend domestic box office receipts for the highly anticipated second chapter in the Matrix trilogy totaled $134.3 million, setting a new record for the biggest consecutive four day domestic box office gross in cinema history – despite the film’s R-rating. Becoming only the second film in history to gross over $100 million in its first three days, “Reloaded’s” $91.8 million three day weekend gross is Warner Bros.
