“The Lon Chaney Collection” From Warner Home Video
(August 6, 2003 – Burbank, CA) – Lon Chaney -- the great silent film actor whose name evokes grotesque screen images of hunchbacks, gangsters, vampires, man-apes, murderous musicians and circus performers -- will make his debut on DVD October 28 from Warner Home Video (WHV) and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in a two-disc DVD Collection. Included are three of Chaney’s major works: “The Ace of Hearts,” a tale of murderous intrigue; “Laugh, Clown, Laugh,” with Chaney as a love-smitten circus clown and “The Unknown,” featuring Chaney as an armless knife thrower. Each film has been mastered from its most complete surviving 35mm elements.
In addition to the three classic films on this collector’s double-disc are two illuminating
extras – “Lon Chaney: A Thousand Faces,” the critically acclaimed Kevin Brownlow documentary narrated by Kenneth Branagh, and “London After Midnight,” Rick Schmidlin’s skillful photo reconstruction of this lost 1927 film, arguably one of the most famous of all missing films. The two-disc DVD will be available for $39.98 SRP/$29.95 MAP.
