A Decade in Review (2010 – 2019)
Over the last 10 years, we watched the endings of award-winning sagas like the Harry Potter and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Amongst these endings, we also witnessed the rebirth of critically acclaimed movies such as "A Star is Born," a new era of our favorite DC superheroes and supervillain stories coming to life on screen, and the magical start of new movies from the Wizarding World and Middle-earth franchises.
As we enter this new decade, we wanted to take a look back at 10 memorable Warner Bros. films from each year of the last decade.
"INCEPTION" (2010)
Leonardo DiCaprio plays a thief who steals corporate secrets from sleeping minds. Now he must be the first to pull off the reverse: planting an idea in exchange for his freedom.
"HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2" (2011)
The motion picture event of the generation comes to a close in the second part of the final chapter in the monumental Harry Potter series. A continuation from 2010’s "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) face their greatest foe and make the ultimate sacrifice on the landmark decade-long journey.
But of course, the spellbinding journey doesn’t end here. In 2016, the Wizarding World expanded with "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the first in a series of films that has introduced magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and a host of other new characters from the magical universe.
"THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" (2012)
In this epic conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy, the emergence of Bane (Tom Hardy), a masked terrorist with ruthless plans for Gotham, drives Batman (Christian Bale) out of his self-imposed exile.
"THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY" (2013)
The adventure follows Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim Erebor with the help of Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) and 13 Dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). Don’t miss this Oscar-nominated film along with its highly acclaimed sequels, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" (2013) and "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" (2014).
"AMERICAN SNIPER" (2014)
U.S. Navy S.E.A.L. Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield.
"MAD MAX: FURY ROAD" (2015)
From director George Miller comes the fourth adventure in the Mad Max film series. In a post-apocalyptic world, Max (Tom Hardy) teams up with a mysterious woman, Furiosa (Charlize Theron), and other prisoners to try and survive the Wasteland.
"BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE" (2016)
Fearing the actions of a god-like superhero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
"WONDER WOMAN" (2017)
"Wonder Woman" made history as being the first female superhero movie to play on the big screen. An origin story, before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers and her true destiny.
"A STAR IS BORN" (2018)
Seasoned musician Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) discovers-and falls in love with-struggling artist Ally (Lady Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream as a singer until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight.
"JOKER" (2019)
"Joker" is an origin story of one of DC Comics' greatest villain and an original, standalone story. Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.
